To answer your question about “why Wrath of the Lich King now,” that expansion is considered the high point of the franchise. With the release of World of Warcraft Classic, the “old” game is very popular. The first expansion, Burning Legion, came out for the Classic game awhile ago, and it’s presumed that WotLK will be on the way eventually and will complete the “classic” experience.
Oh! That makes perfect sense. I forgot about Classic :)
I would argue burning crusade, bt and illidan is the best expansion :)
As a late addendum to this, it was also when the game was at its peak in terms of player numbers. 12 million actively subbed players at the height of Wrath. And that's not even including the number of players that picked up and then dropped the game during leveling, which was, (according to blizzard) more than the active population of the game (sidenote: also, why Cataclysm came right after to revamp the old-world questing and attempt to retain those players that would drop off during leveling). I'd say it makes perfect sense why they picked Wrath to be the expansion of choice for this game.
This seemed Defenders of the Realm-esque to me, was glad to see you mention it here.
Pandemic: Fall of Rome had the first solo mode which got adapted into an official solo variant for regular Pandemic.
Ah OK. I don't remember that, but it's been a while :)
Wow, they did a really cool job capturing the Wrath of the Lichking feel. I really like the visual components of this one. Glad to hear it's good!
My love of warcraft is going to overcome my hate of pandemic.
for me, it did. I just hate pandemic. Plus it's a really nice painting project
That’s how I was with SmallWorld. Without Small World of Warcraft I’d have no interest.
Fall of Rome is my favorite too. If it had minis I think it'd take the theme to a whole new level.
I bet there's a line of 10mm or 15mm minis out there somewhere that would fit the bill perfectly.
my family and friends most favourite game. easy to teach the kids and they love the rich lore of Warcraft. Thanks for another great review.
Pandemic never called my attention because the theme did not resonate with me. This, however, is much more up my alley. The minis look neat as well as the board itself (bright colors). Thanks for showing it off! I will be heading to Target and picking it up tonight.
Great. Hope you enjoy it :)
Nice review sir.
Awesome.
