    You can adjust volume and input selection with the remote control 🙂

    Thanks fir your review - however Would have liked and appreciated if you could have shown physical images of the speakers rear the connections and the bottom where you mention the base speaker is and Also the view when the grill is off . Hope you will provide such touch in all your next reviews of any units you review - thanks

    Thanks for this. One simple but important improvement over the mk1's is that you simply rotate the knob for volume adjustment. I believe on the previous version you had to rotate it then press it to engage - a bit of a faff.

    Ruark also sell the excellent RS1 subwoofer to complement these speakers.

    Great review! These seem to be the best in terms of converting space to sound quality. I wonder if they’re the best speakers on the market pound for pound

      Impossible to know without hearing them all, its a very competitive space.

    I've had the MR1 Mk2 for a few years now and love them even more than costlier setups I've tried. However, they do have a huge flaw I've only just recently noticed: Whilst the bass is initially really impressive, there is some rattling coming from the bass reflex port, audible on some tracks more than others. A track called Robots by Landhouse is practically unlistenable on these speakers. I'm surprised no reviewer has ever mentioned this.

      @dynamodav Před 10 měsíci

      I’ve had two sets of these for a few years now, I’ve not had the problem you mention. I’m sure they have a removable rear, it’s held on by screws so you should be able to investigate the problem.

      @@dynamodavI sent them back to Ruark and they acknowledged the issue but admitted there was nothing they could do. Clearly a design flaw. P.S. The rattle is definitely there, especially on the track I mentioned. Consider yourself lucky as once you hear the rattle, you cannot unhear it.

    These are standing out to me the most. Just a quick question. I have no speakers on my desk set up so I imagine these to be a massive improvement. I have heard from reviews that the bass is lacking but as I have seen a subwoofer available I imagine this would improve that. So my question are these still good on my desktop set up as a pair of would you recommend the subwoofer as well. Budget is tight but would like to improve my speakers overall and the size is more the reason as I don't have much space for big speakers.

    Hi, would be nice if you could upload a sound test. And I noticed Audiolab dac even better if you could run these on two different DACs for comparisons. Possible?

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před rokem +2

      We don't believe in sound tests as they are by no means an accurate representation of how hi-fi sounds.
      In terms of your question regarding the use of the Audiolab DAC, I did test it with the speakers using the analogue input as opposed to using it just as a transport but due to the tuning of the speakers the difference's were far too minor to be worth bringing up in the video.

      @@living_entertainment Accurate no certainly not but do they give an idea ...yes, this idea is far more reliable than someone else deciding if speakers are good or not by talking about how 'he' find them. Just my opinion. Lets agree to disagree here. Thanks for reply.

    I think I know the answer from this great review but hoping to check an important point for my setup - can the slave speaker connect wirelessly via bluetooth , or must the 2 speakers be joined by a cable?

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před 8 měsíci

      The slave speaker unfortunately can only be connected via cable. If you are looking for a wireless solution you would have to upgrade to something along the lines of the KEF LSX II.

    Thanks for the review. They are certainly interesting for my desk while listening to music or podcasts from my mac studio. I hope you can help me with a doubt. I'm not an audiophile but I know that an excellent aux cable can make the difference with an item like the Ruark. Can you advise me on the features a cable suitable for Ruark and Mac must have? I wouldn't want to buy a very cheap but not too expensive cable that has no use. Thank you!

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I think an evergreen cable from Audioquest is probably the sweet spot for a Mac Studio. The DAC chipset in them is actually pretty impressive.

      They also do well with a subwoofer and a dac and do scale well with equipment. I can recommend a QED performance j2p cable to feed it quality signal.
