As a violist and an engineer I have to thank the engineers at Wigmore hall for doing such a fabulous mike-up. Having Queen Zimmermann sitting center really showcases her sound, especially if you throw this in mono. What a gorgeous trio of humans.
how do you "throw it in mono"? I'd like to do that
But what happened to the sound levels after the second interval? I had to crank up my speakers.
@@ariadne4720 shoot sorry im just seeing this now for the first time. Mac has a built in mono feature. I think you have to go to audio settings. Not sure about PC though.
I don't know why but I have to turn this video up super high on my PC to hear it.

Such stylish playing by these these beautiful musicians- the whole concert is such a treat. What stamina!!!
We had the good fortune to be at this concert - the week before Covid lockdown was imposed on UK. What a fabulous opportunity and thankfully all came away from it ok including the star performers.
Wonderful ensemble with fantastic feeling towards each other.
Indeed - this "fantastic feeling" is quintessential for truly great music-making. They have succeeded in submerging their individual Egos:

Cuando abrí este concierto, no podía creerlo: durante muchos, muchísimos años he buscado grabaciones de los trios para cuerdas de Beethoven, no sé por que razón son subvalorados, en circunstancias que en su género son obras maestras. Beethoven llevó a la cima lo que Mozart había aventurado. Pero no hay grabaciones buenas de estos tríos.. hasta ahora. Y están los cinco tríos que Beethoven escribió. Son contemporáneos de los cuartetos del Op 18, también geniales. Estas versiones son impagables... Conocía a Jean-Guihen Queyras por sus grabaciones para el sello Harmonia Mundi, muy buenas. No sé como agradecer esto, al fin encontré (y en una grabación integral) estos tríos de Beethoven... y en interpretación excepcional.. Infinitas gracias.
Zimmermann string trio ha grabado el Op3 y el Op9. Vale la pena escucharlos.

the final movement of Op. 3 is simply fantastic! ... well, the entire performance is fantastic. I agree with the other commenters; I've no idea why these trios are so little known or performed. Here is some of the very best of Beethoven's oeuvre.
