I could only imagine the sense of wonder a kid felt playing Mario 64 for the first time when it released.
Was insane! I was 11 when it came out.
That’s awesome. I was born 2001 so grew up playing the remake on DS. The type of game you play all day then go to sleep and dream about. Just magical stuff.

It was the best. As a 5 year old at the airport in 99 it still blew my mind. Got the n64 the next xmas with sm64, tony hawk 2 and Star Wars pod racing
Born in 1991 here. This was truly a one of a kind experience. I’ll cherish the memories forever.

I miss those days, games were still hard and you got cheats and hints in the playground and didn't just watch a CZcams video to complete it, men were men and women were women, we didn't have women's sports being pushed even though they are unpopular and films were better

I remember buying this game with the console back in 1996. I was 12; it took me 6 months to save for the console so it was a good thing I loved Mario 64 so much! It was my only N64 game for a long time!
I played it as part of Mario 3D All Stars on Switch and it’s amazing how such an early 3D platform game still holds up nearly 30 years later - a true classic.

What a masterpiece Super Mario 64 was. I still have the game and my N64. I miss the 90s.
I was 5 in 1996. We didn't have a SNES growing up, and I didn't get an N64 till Christmas 1998/1999, But I can't fathom how exuberant it was for those 11+ to see how Mario evolved from 2D side scrolling to 3D navigation.

My SM64 game is literally "maybe modified", so when I started playing Super Mario 64, And when I came back to the game, it saved my data without a memory card!
I think that the game and your console save the game. I think the memory card is to transfer it another N64.
Similar to the super Nintendo, some Nintendo 64 saves are saved directly to the cartridge and use a save battery to survive, the memory card in the back is not needed.

i bought an n64 in the spring of 97', for Mario Kart, but, everyone was out of stock, so i ended up buying mario 64 as my only game. a couple weeks later i got blast corps. I think finally sometime in the summer i finally got mario kart. i ended up working at nintendo of america in redmond, wa. as a game tester and game counselor about 1.5 years later!
4 player perfect dark on n64 is still peak gaming experience 👌

Mario 64 was the first N64 game I ever played, as me and my aunt saw a N64 in cash generator and bought it, It came with a controller and Mario 64, I really enjoyed playing it on Switch when the remake happend but playing the original on the original hardware has a different feeling to it

I even had Mario Kart 64 and a donkey kong game... now i am 14 and i regret not enjoying those times...

U don't need a memory card for super Mario 64! The game itself has a built in memory pack so it automatically saves every time I finish a level

I had a TV that small, but with VHF and UHF dials and wood grain, for my NES. By the time of n64, I had a 50" CRT monster. I think everyone did by the time of n64. Start confirming DK oldies and do these videos on a monster Sony CRT
