My grandmother taught me to pinch off the 1st tomato bud or 1st tomato bud that looks to be ready to produce a tomato. Doing this caused all of the plants I plant to have tremendous yields. Im 61 years old, and I've been pinching off the 1st tomato budding. This has worked for 40 years. Enjoy gardening as it's relaxing and fun.
Yes the reason for this is to let the plant grow bigger so the fruit doesn't rob to much nutrients before it gets big enough to produce larger yields.
its called topping in the plant world.
Honestly don't think it matters for indeterminate tomato plants. Determinate for sure. I do same thing with my lemon trees and pepper plants
@SwampfoxBirdseye If they have been in the small starter pots too long which usually happens they get root bound and stunts the plants growth so it does help a little bit for sure.
There are very few people left in this world with passed down real survival knowledge, like wich mushrooms are safe to eat and the skill of recognising them ,how to skin and butcher the animal you have hunted, how to know wich plants have medicinal qualities, how to defend one's home stead ,even better how to make one even though that option has been deleted for most of us . Just the fact that we have been systematically told throughout generations to forget what is important like passing down cultural critical survival techniques tricks and important information that are becoming lost to time
Y’all got good momma and daddy’s! We are only granted so many days like that with our parents! Thanks Gabe!
Yeah, I know. I lost both of mine before I even turned 22.
Crystal getting so excited is worth the watch
Gabe, take about 3 tablespoons of baking soda and mix it with water, put it in a spray bottle and spray the garden plants,it won't hurt the plants but will prevent bugs of all kinds from messing with the plants...
Lime is better and so cheap to use
I like neem oil
Yes we do that also
I am going to try this thank you!
Make sure to drill drain holes in the bottoms of the vegetable containers so you won't get root rot. Thanks for a great video.
That was my first thought
You gotta go!! Well worth it. Take the tour in the boat at the bottom. It's a walk, crystal clear water. Been many times!!
Gabe your videos just keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work!

Yes ,Gabe fishing competitions are fun too watch !
Crater Lake is BEAUTIFUL!
Crystal and Gabe, there’s this thing called a beer trap that is cheap and effective at getting the critters in the slugs in the beetles and all the other stuff that’s going to eat your garden. All you gotta do is get some cheap beer or you can use expensive beer it doesn’t matter but you dig a little bit of the soil out next to your plant and you put In a shallow Tupperware and you pour beer in it and you leave it there overnight. Don’t do it if it’s raining. The yeast in the beer will attract slugs and snails and all of the shitheads that will eat the leaves off of your garden plants and they will go into the beer and they will drown. In a shallow Tupperware and you pour beer in it and you leave it there overnight. Don’t do it if it’s raining. But the yeast in the beer will attract slugs and snails and all of the critters that will eat the leaves off of your garden plants and they will go into the beer and they will drown.Try it! I guarantee you’ll be happy with the results.
That is supposed to say critters and the slugs not in the slugs in those first couple of sentences my microphone does not pick up all of my words correctly
That beer trick works, ive slso seen it done using strips of carpet top down between the plants. Also, a lot of that soil you buy in bags is usually infested with bugs.
I caught a 4 pound crappie last year while trolling on my kayak. He was a MONSTER! I literally thought it was a bass at first. 🤣😂🤣 Love y’all’s spirit. Great people! 👌✌️
Bluegabe if you don’t put a ring on Crystal’s finger it will be you that needs hunting down !!!! That girl has brought so much love & laughter into ALL our lives ❤❤❤
I agree 💯
Happy fishing with my daughter.. Happy fishing with my family.. I envy you.
Hi Bluegabe & Crystal, your last video of Stone crab was amazing, I loved it. You two and the boys are totally amazing together. Take care you guys 😊
Luke is the one out fishing all of y'all. Not fair you are really good at this fishing in fact you are the best .
BG, we mix 1/3 each for our gardens. Peat, mushroom compost, reg ole Florida sand, and about a shovel full of manure. Mix it up on a tarp and fill your beds. Some people also use vermiculite, matter of choice. Great vid, and Bro they whooped ya! Can’t wait for” Mad Chaos “ to continue with your adventures😎
Tip for Squash, cucumbers, and any beams or peas and all melons is dont but plants only plant seeds because they grow quick enough that the seeds will pass the plant because the plant will take a shock and the seeds wont .
More challenges Gabe. Because it brings the family together.
I enjoy all of your adventures in the outdoors. Thanks man.👍👍
Captain Jack's dead bug spray is amazing . I spay at dusk on my plants. Good luck with your garden... Can't wait for the next video 🥰🌴🐟🍅
I'm sure but if the bugs won't eat why would u wanna ???
I've been to Crater Lake many times. Near Klamath Falls Oregon. Beautiful, inside a Volcano. No public boat access allowed. Worth going to see. No water into lake other than rain and melting snow.
Bluebeachy Family You both are winners for having each other!
Thank you for sharing this awesome video.
@muffin2cutiepie I don't think they live together. You must be sinless since you seem to be throwing the first stone.
@@muffin2cutiepie such a pathetic comment!!
@@muffin2cutiepiewhy? Would you even say something like that. Who are you to judge anyone
you are a troll
@@muffin2cutiepie
@@muffin2cutiepie I thought adultery is norm in America, just as gayism, lesbianism and drugs? Ain't that what y'all are projecting to rest of the world?
For what it's worth you should remove the blooms and tomatoes from the little plants so the plants get some size to them before setting fruit. Also your containers are over crowded. One tomato plant to a container works best. Just my experience .
That’s so cool having moms and dad fishing awesome ❤❤😂😂😂where may buddy Luke ❤
Heck yeah, more challenges. And glad to see a Kentucky girl hanging in there. Since I live in Owenton KY. Y'all and your brothers is the only one I watch on CZcams. Ya make your channel on CZcams very interesting and intertaining. Caught wait to see more challenges that y'all come up with. Thanks, David Doll from Kentucky
BlueGabe mix cayenne pepper dawn dish soap and water in a spray bottle. Spray as often as needed. My dad mixes it up in a old milk gallon then adds ot to a spray bottle. It works.
Here in Newfoundland during growing season I find and learned over the years that if you use containers for gardening it’s better to have the bottom cut out so the plants can suck the water from the earth hatter it rains. You will get healthier plants. If there is bottoms to have a lot of holes drilled in it so water can drain out so the plants do not drown.
I enjoy watching ur channel I enjoy watching ur family and ur extended family. ❤❤❤❤
As far as putting your fish remains in your garden..
Grind them up first , this way the racoons and other animals can't dig it up..
Love your videos.👍
Bless your family 🙏❣️
Gabe get you some liquid fertilzer. Miracle grow makes a good one. It comes with a dispenser that attaches to the water hose. Everytime you water your garden use the liquid fertilzer. Everything. I would feed it every day until it greens up.
Marigolds will help keep the bugs away. I think I saw some sitting by your fence. Also dish soap mixed with water sprayed on the plants will get rid of the bugs. You can also spray it with malathon. That's what I use.
Coffee grounds will make the ants move and is good for the plants.
Take banana peels and put them in a jar of water outside, then use the water around your plants. It will add potassium to the soil and help with the mushrooms and any leaf rot.
For soil, if you can after this season remove the tubs and cover the ground where you want to plant with cardboard and mulch. It will break down creasing a good topsoil and then I would plant in ground.
Outdoor boys and Blue Gabe are my favorite! Glad y’all had a blast!
Just started watching the video. I love the fact that Crystal has 20 poles and you have three.
Such a great idea for this challenge. It was great to see both families fishing! That powerpole company knows what’s up have the remote for both on one remote! Awesome!!! Good luck on the turkey boys! Can’t wait to see some birds down!
I can see your happiness blue it fills me with joy,I recommend your videos cuz there's not to much skin for the kids to focus on,,NA MEAN,😊😊
Crystal & Gabriel, you want to try plant fertilizer called Miloganite it’s high in nitrogen that help your vegetables plants grow and stay green. Only need a little bit of fertilizer.. It will not burn anything, you can use on your lawn too… it’s fun watching Crystal kick your butt. LOL ❤ Be Safe. Tightlines
I have always been told when we garden that when you have mushrooms you have good soil. Love you guys, God Bless and I'll see you on the next one.
AMEN!!!!!!!! "If you have kids you know what I'm talking about....mess" Preach!!!!! Dirty bundles of joy. Love my kiddos as much as you do and man ol man can they destroy a clean house. Keep up the awesome work Gabe.
Bore a few holes on the sides of the barrels kind of close to the bottom so that water can drain out if it rains too much. Thanks for the video! Really enjoyed seeing your parents and well as the competition between the families.
The mushrooms are coming from the store bought mulch. I have them in my garden too. Get some dried cow patties and crush them up for your garden fertilizer. I dug a 2' deep hole, filled it half way with cow patties and planted a couple tomatoes on top and I had a tomato tree a couple months later. I had to use 2x4 stakes to support it. Have fun!
Crater Lake is a MUST SEE and PERFECT for your videos!!!
Hey guys that was great . My self I love to watch videos like that challenge video. That was a lot of fun just sitting here watching you guys.
I live in Oregon and I've been to Crater Lake many times every time I go it takes my breath away. It is spectacular to say the least.
I don’t know why but watching y’all parents makes me so happy 😊, god bless yall. Must be the old soul in me.
Gotta plant some native wildflowers, maybe a tote/barrel or two in different areas, to attract lacewings, ladybugs etc that will eat pest bugs. Lacewing larvae eat, Im pretty sure, thousands of pest bugs a day lol. Or, even look into a bee hive for some honey and pollination. Use your moms chicken cleanings for fertilizers. Love your channel man, always love the content, so glad you got an airboat again too. That wave was CRAZY lmfao!
You will not be disappointed with Crter lake. I live about 100 miles from there. It is very beautiful, you may still have snow there when you get there. Enjoy it. Thanks for a fun video Mike
Makin memories & content 💙 I remember fishing with my mom & dad as a kid only a few times as an adult tho
Really enjoy watching these videos, I wish I could fish all day everyday
Gabe, the very best organic fertilizer is Epsoma Plant Tone. It feeds the microbes in the soil not the plant. Thanks for all of the great content brother.
Great video y’all! Cherish all the moments you can fishing and hunting with your dads and mom’s. Lost my dad at 48 to cancer. That was my airboating and fishing buddy. Watching your video’s bring back so many memories
I loved the challenge!!! I pray yall do well turkey hunting and stay safe and most all have FUN!!!
Good family fun nothing wrong with that.
That’s what this world needs more of Enjoy watching Jack and Luke are are becoming young men.
Mushrooms are from the compost in your bag mix. Squash is yellow from too much water. Carrots are slow growing. The bag mix doesn’t need as much water as your creek mix that is probably sandier. Should not need fertilizer for a while in your bag mix.
Great video Gabe. Krystal is having a good time. ❤
Love seeing both families! Awesome video Gabe!
Garden tip: if your cucumbers are vines, you should move them by a fence. The vines will grow through fence. Much easier than tomato rings or stakes
Gabe,Make sure you have holes in the bottom of container for draining. I too live in Palm Coast FL, Vegatables are hard as hell to grow here. Also with the bugs mix in a bottle some Dish soap and water so its soapy have to spray heavily on the plant. Repeat after it rains. Good Luck Gardening.
Don't use soap, use baking soda and water. Baking soda won't harm the plant. It will keep all types of bugs of your plants
Always a great video to watch never miss one of them. Keep up the great work.
Great vid god bless you all good luck with the garden
Thanks for another brilliant family video
Transfer the vegetables into the ground. I had the same issue last year with my garden. When they're in the ground it "drains" properly and you won't have to water as much since they'll soak up the soils moisture. Also adds a bunch of nutrients to help them thrive! Awesome video as always man!
In south Florida the plants will be torn up by root knot nematodes if you put them in the ground.
Blugabe you have days like that and nice to see your and mom with you
Beachy and her dad and everyone did
hello from puerto rico, you can use the coffee that has been already used to make coffee, take the used grains and put then in the dirt. It will give them nutrients naturally, instead of using fertilizer.
Next year put 3 inches of gravel on the bottom of those tomato buckets. Drill holes right above the rocks for drainage then do several inches of manure followed by topsoil. Sterile dairy manure will prevent weeds. The roots of those tomatoes will drive down into the fertilizer and into the rocks that will always hold water. Good luck
The reason why this video works. Because it is natural. Family doing what they love. With the ones they love. Doesn't get any better than this. Thank you for keeping it real. State just the Way you are. 10 out of 10.😊
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon of Dawn dish liquid soap. You mix that into a spray bottle spray all of your plants and I guarantee 1000% no bugs on the plants
You both have great Parents, spend as much time with them that y’all can, Because one day they won’t be able to and you will miss them very much. Because I miss mine everyday.
Y’all did it again, another Academy Award winner. Thanks.
I went to Crater Lake when I was young. 70 degree's and snow all around! My brother and I Loved it.
I can't wait to see you guys go fishing off Oregon coast! Hopefully you get a video or two and just enjoy it up here! Northwest coast is lovely during the summer. You might get lucky and they may give some razor clam tides!
The crab video was amazing, Your picture does not do him justice with how huge he was.
Can't wait for the next video! Thank you for posting.
Great memory's for the grand kids ..... awesome video.......
Y’all cherish every moment ya get with y’all’s parents. I’d give a lot for a mediocre day and everything for one more stellar day of fishing with mine. Thanks for the great video!
Crater Lake is awesome. Deep and cold.
Crater Lake, yeah! I've lived in Oregon all my life, and this is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
For your Bug problems use 1 - 2.5 Table spoons of dish soap(NOT antibacterial) to 1/2 gallon of water in a spray bottle and spray on your plants. No chemical insecticidal soap.
Put your banana peels in a gallon jug fill it up with water and water your plants with it. Also you can put your banana peels around your base of the plant they are really good for tomatoes . I have a big garden every year. Coffee grounds are also very good for your plants. Your plants are looking good they just need time to grow 😊 much love from a small town in pa
It's absolutely a great blessing to have your parents with you
Hey dad 🎉 nice to see mom again ! I absolutely love these videos 📹 I'm biased with family love ❤
I use fish in my garden for fertilizer. When you bury the fish, cover them in garden lime. It will keep the critters away. Also, pogies are the best for fertilizer.
Love your videos! Nice little garden going down in Florida with all those pests. A little tip on your cucumbers. All cucumbers vine out so you're going to have too steak up some kind if trellis around that box and train the vines up it so they don't sprawl out of the box and onto the ground.
Love the video Nice I love our lake Okeechobee hopefully one day I get a chance to fish with you 👍🎣🐟♥️🙏
Crater Lake ✅
When you grow up in southern Oregon as I did you go to Crater Lake every year for field trips. It is amazing the first few times you see it. Eventually it becomes a long drive for a hole in the ground.
Lime is cheap and u can sprinkle it on the leaves of the plant keeps ants off plants just have to re-apply after heavy dew or rain also u can buy a couple eggplants and put on the ends of your garden bugs typically go to those plants but they are so hearty they can take it but dont put any thing on them let the bugs eat the eggplamts it will not hurt them .
Gabe, plant lots of garlic, onions, and marigolds, these are only for bug repellent, we also ordered thousands of prayingmantis to be released soon including hanging bug traps.
Let me know how we can do that. I live in Tavares, Florida right up the road from you
Another gardening tip. Ants are beneficial as they eat other bugs that would harm your plants. Seeing ants on and around your plants is an indicator of some other bug that is potentially harming your plants. Look very closely at the bottoms of your plant leaves, green aphids are very small and can be easily missed. Ants actually milk them for their sugary secretions and when they are dried up they take them back to the nest for food.
Gabe and Beachy lot's of fun watching the video's lately. Gabe I think beachy got you on the crappie size and numbers. I really enjoy seeing both of y'all parents in y'all life. Having parents being part of your life is great for y'all. Gabe I saw the catfish river camp video. Those was some nice cats all of you guys got on that trip. Now the last video at bootiebayfishingresort was a outstanding time and video. Can't wait to see the youth turkey hunt video coming.
Hope all of you have a great year bringing us along with your trips.
Yes keep up the cash prizes video's. lot's of fun.
Gardening
Bury your fish
For an example, I always bury shad under my tomato plant. Dig a hole.
Put the fish in the bottom, cover it with lime powder
Then the varmint won’t be able to smell it to dig it up
Crater lake is absolutely incredible, it’s a must visit!
If they are budding but not producing, take a broom or burlap bag and slap the blooms. Do it in low wind conditions, chances are they aren’t self pollinating
Gabe, you and Crystal are having lots of fun. Life is good. Love the content, keep it up. Love y'all.
Another great video. My mom is getting up in age now (94) and can no longer fish with me. We always talked noise to each other when I was a kid...I would be catching all kinds of fish and all she would say was that she was just waiting for the big one. She normally did catch the big'ole biggun!! Enjoy fishing with your parents and family while you can!
Need to put a hole a couple inches up so they don’t drown or over saturate the soil. Natural fertilizer is best from feedyards or farms. We use cattle and hog dung as well as the soil from corrals and hog pens to grow our food
Blue Gobie I was 10 years old throwing a bottom rig into the ditch mud and watching it SPLAT about 2 3 times the last time the hook caught my finger went Straight to the bone 😰😱 just like your mom's 30 years later I still remember that pain Your Momas a Trooper she's a tough one 💯🙌🏼
Love the family fishing videos thank you ! 🍺♥️
Gabe and Crystal and all the rest of y’all on the boats. What an absolutely fun video. One of your best with so much laughter. Your garden is coming along very nicely. Sorry no tips to pass on. My hubby is the garden guy at our house. He grows. I freeze. . Yes keep making these amazing fun videos
Gabe, yall are awesome!
Been watching your videos for quite some time.
Love all the hunting & fishing.
Been growing a garden all my life.
1 tip, if it rains wait till that dirt gets dried up before watering again. Plants don't like being wet all the time.
Take care, CHEERS!
10 out of 10...... Great job everyone..... Family day out .
There is a lot to learn on maders! Determent or indeterminate plants. Hybrids are usually determinate, and Hybrids are always indeterminates. Determinate plants grow to a determinate height, then bloom and produce fruit. As opposed to indeterminate plants continue to grow and produce fruit as they grow, hence the e longer vine and produce as long as the growing season. Please excuse the spelling, as I'm heading for bed.
The garden is looking good 👍. I love that you respond on comments. Yes I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work. 😊
Such a fun video 😊 I loved seeing your families have so much fun too❤
when you bury stuff in your garden and such ,you got to bury it at least 18 inches deep to keep critters away. Research epsom salt as fertilizer . if you know someone who raises chickens their dung is good fertilizer. or old cow patties .
Crystal hot sauce is the best. I even carry a bottle in my trucks door panel for quick access
