Il Dono della Massa | The Gift Of Mass • interactive AV installation

In 2012, scientists at CERN announced that they had finally discovered the elusive Higgs Boson. The Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), among the protagonists of the discovery, decided to create an interactive installation to popularize the importance of this achievement in public events.
One year ago the INFN Communication Dept. asked the embrio.net collective to develop an interactive platform on which it would have been possible - for multiple users at the same time - to live the "impossible" experience of acquiring your own mass.
The #GiftOfMass audio-visual Installation doesn't try to explain what the Higgs Boson really is, but it rather creates an inspiring environment where everyone can create his own representation of one of the aspects - maybe the most fascinating - of this incredible discovery.
embrio.net collective made the #GiftOfMass audio-visual installation in collaboration with artist-programmer Paolo Scoppola, combining the inputs and guidelines of the scientists at INFN, with the mind-blowing experience of seeing and hearing your self dancing with your particles until you see your mass forming.
The installation has been presented to the public in late 2012 has already been seen by thousands of visitors around the world.
