from GOG - "Pathologic Classic HD is the Definitive Edition of the original Cult Classic Psychological First-Person Survival game. The game represents a unique and unforgettable experience as it transports players in a weird town which crouches, ominous, in the far reaches of an ancient steppe. It was once a small drover settlement, huddled around a monstrous abattoir-but something about the butchery it was near has changed it. It has developed an odd social structure over the course of several generations. It could have quietly continued along its weird way, but a sudden outbreak of an unknown and inevitably lethal disease has decimated the citizens. Prayers did not help. Science did not help. So, finally, they have turned to outsiders for help: three of them enter the town in hope of finding a cure or-failing that-an explanation. The first outsider was a ruthless investigator, assigned by local authorities. The second is a far-sighted Ripper who has used his extraordinary abilities to gain a reputation as an ingenious surgeon, who has come to the town in search of his father's terrible heritage. The third-and last-outsider is an eccentric girl rumored to have mystic healing abilities; she may become the town's salvation were it not for the constant fear that plagues her, the memory of the horrors of her recent past.
On the surface, Pathologic is a first person horror adventure game where you control one of three "heroes." Dig deeper, however, and you’ll find an experience that will affect your emotional and psychological state. In the world of Pathologic you’ll find yourself in situations where morals and good deeds are meaningless in the face of raw despair and endless need. Talk to the denizens of the town and decide for yourself if you wish to ease someone else’s pain or save every bit of precious medicine to protect yourself from the invisible and inexorable plague. Become witness to the miasma of horror as the plague begins to overcome the town. "

You review all the genuinely cool stuff most people would never have found on their own. I'll probably end up watching some stuff about this game since a story and world revolving around the plague sounds cool as hell. Thanks Che

7:49 Quest don't necessarily start by getting mail. It's more like a notification for an available quest. You can often go to that character before having receive any letters, thus skipping said letter to begin with.

I recommend you play "King of Dragon Pass", very cool strategic game with some RPG elements
Got it on GOG awhile back ..suck at those type of games tho but I love the way the menus look and how much you have to manage..my clan died easily haha

I'm on day 6 bachelor playthrough
I really like this game, but some of people didn't because "walking is so slow" or "the game is way too hard"
I guess they completely miss the game purpose, it's supposed to be hard because survival and it's on pandemic/outbreak
It's really cool game though if you like survival and story-driven game
I'm really looking forward the "remake"

I remember this game, back in 2012-ish I was in the search for true good horror games (not like those cheap jumpscare festivals like Fatal Frame) and I got a glimpse on Pathologic but I don't know why (mostly my fault of course) I could only find the game in Russian :/, so I pretty much forgot it and went into more search finding at the end the good old Obscure for Win XP.
But as with Fallout, you managed to grab my atention and to that I thank you once again (I will never be tired of telling you that it is thanks to you that I ended up being an Fallout fangirl).
P.S: This is off topic shit but I HAVE to ask, Any thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077's gameplay demo?

Maybe someone already asked you before but have you played in Turgor? Its from same developers and quite not standard rpg game. Also the pathologic has a great steppe theme. Reminds me of how you feel when you staying in real one exept odor of steppe grasses is missing.
Lovely thoughtful review. Have you ever played The Void? It's by the same devs as Pathologic and similarly original and weird, though the story is more abstract.
Do you like strategic games, like civilzation?
Yes! Not very good at them but some of my favs are Alpha Centari , Total war room and Rise of nations ...need to play more tho
Civ 3 is still one of my favorite games...it is old but it still looks great. Due to the art design it look like a map, so it has "ageless" graphics. Even though 5 is considered to be the best, 3 would still be the one I would recommend.
@@RetrospectiveGaming I recommend the command and conquer series! its like rise of nations and age of empires but its gameplay is simplier and fun and also it has strategic depth beneath it. Also its sci fi lore and alternate modern day setting is very inriguing.

This doesn't look like the HD version. Or did you intentionally play it on low resolution or something?
1280 720 ... honestly even at higher resolution its not a really big difference tbh at least imo
I know you don’t play a lot of newer games, but do plan to get Red Dead Redemption 2?

Maybe if I can get a good deal for it ...played the first one on Xbox 360 ..form what I remember .. I liked it enough

RDR was fine, so I doubt the sequel would be any better.
Pepper Millers Given all the things I’ve heard about RDR2, I don’t thinks this game is going to be anything less than amazing. . . Though I should probably keep some butter and salt handy in the unlikely event that it disappoints lol. Jokes aside, you should looks into some of the gameplay information surrounding RDR2 if you haven’t already, it looks to be one of the most ambitious open world games ever.
