JJF ! What a performance in 2017. Those carves were so sick. At 3:09 left to go JJF has 19.03 for 2 waves which coincidentally equals the score for all 5 waves scored by Andino. Legend.

Andino needed a little more volume. His board was sinking in those waves and just too slow. John’s Board was sitting higher on the water which gave him the speed and advantage in this heat.
Totally I didn't read your comment until I decided to add a comment. Kolohe is riding the wrong board! But then you wonder ...would he be able to handle the speed on those imperfect (but awesome) waves.

Yeah that's why I don't really mind surfing my little waves in France. Mostly shit but you can relax in the water, we got no sharks. I mean, they don't attack.
If kolohe surfed as free and hard in any random heat as he does against john john he would do way better

kolohe's board seemed super chattery and to bog down. jjf board just seem to knife through no problem and carry speed.
Andino feels like at times he has the curse of a ct surfer in heats, cautious and robotic, 4 turns to the beach. Was good enough in juniors, then to get on tour, shit even a top 5 finish. However, it ain’t 10 years ago, that type of surfing ain’t gonna win you world titles against guys like JJF, Medina, Italo, Jordy etc. Like they said “Andino is just trying to out strategize his opponent, not surfing like his one of the best out there”.
Heat should start when the first wave is caught. Makes sense. A lot of sense. All that time wasted
Probably Jordy is the only surfer that JJ doesn't make look like a bottle of piss bobbing around out there

It must piss these guys off being in competition and not being able to be at full flow ,,,competing ain't for everyone ,,,I always seemed to surf rubbish in local contests, I don't know the reasons for it but my free surfing was a million times better but many years later I realised that I wasn't connected spiritually,mentally resulting in (surfing shit)

I agree. that was insanely high . good wave but no say 9.63
