    Hey Everyone! Welcome back to Low Carb Love. Today I have the BEST Keto Chicken Pot Pie recipe that is sure to make your mouth water.
    Pie "Crust"
    2 cups of almond flour
    2 teaspoons of baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
    1/4 teaspoon of salt and pepper
    1 teaspoon of mayo
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup of melted butter
    1/3 cup of cheddar cheese
    Mix all Ingredients . Bake at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes
    Filling:
    2 cups of shredded chicken (used Costco)
    1/2 cup of butter
    2 chayotes peeled and cubed
    1/3 cup of chopped onions
    1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper
    1/4 teaspoon of salt
    1 teaspoon of Poultry seasoning
    1/4 teaspoon of xanthan gum
    1 1/2 cups of chicken bone broth (kettle fire butter chicken broth)
    1/2 cup of heavy cream
    1 cup of green beans
    1/4 cup of shredded carrots (optional)
    1 egg beaten with two tablespoons of water
    Directions:
    First boil chayotes for 15 minutes or so. Check them often. You want them tender but not too tender since they will finish cooking in the oven.
    In a large pot add butter and onions and sauté them. Add in spices and xantham to cook and stir. Add in chicken broth and heavy cream. Start adding the veggies and allow it to thicken. Check for seasoning and adjust to taste. Stir in chicken and turn off heat. Pour mixture in prepared dish.
    Top it with the uncooked dough of biscuits until fully covered.
    Bake at 350 for 20 to 26 minutes until biscuits are golden brown. And mixture is bubbling

      Oh my goodness. New subscriber for sure. I just made this with a twist according to what I had on hand. I used frozen stir fry veggies, left over cajun turkey, the broth from the turkey and made a bottom crust. I did not have cheese so I added italian parmesan cheese blend to the dough. It turned out very good. Thanks for sharing.

      Don’t know if this would work but a person should be able to roll out the crust and cut into strips to roll into dumpling balls. It looks like she is pretty much is making that. Except the crust is just in one big piece.

      @@joelknouse3072 I think a biscuit recipe would be better for dumplings than a pie crust. Low Carb Love already has a biscuit recipe, so I would try that and cook it in the soup rather than baking it; and now i think i will give that a try.

      I love chicken and dumplings..In my opinion there is not a replacement for real dumplings..I just cheat one day, ok 2 days when I make them..its worth it 2 me...look up Bea chicken and dumpling recipe..its the best. (Not low carb though)

    OK, I made this recipe today, and Mayra is sooo right: you could eat the filling by itself. It's amazing. Chayote is interesting: the flavor is indeed neutral, and the texture is nice. I mean, it’s not a potato, but does a perfect potato substitute exist? Ha! Next time, I might use just one chayote. One last thing: follow Mayra’s advice for adding mayo to the crust! Mine flaked like crazy because I was being a lazybutt who didn’t feel like making the mayo. I mixed the crust in with the filling as I ate a serving, and I really didn’t notice the flakiness at that point, but the flaky appearance bothered me when I cut into it. Overall, a very tasty recipe!

    This was heavenly. I used green beans and mushrooms and homemade chicken broth. It was soo good. I think I ate a bit more than I was supposed to and my daughter was shocked because I don't usually eat that much. Thank you so much for sharing.

    I just wanted to stop by to say that I made this pretty much exactly how you did only with a few exceptions to the seasoning in the items put into the mix. With that being said the crust I followed exactly and it was fabulous! It wasn’t hard, it was flaky. Exactly what I want out of a pot pie topping. And the juice thickened up amazing I did use xanthan gum. I just want to say thank you so much for posting this I really missed a good pot pie since being on keto and you have brought it back.

    Hello! I just started a Keto diet October 21st of this year under a doctor’s care. I was told corn and green peas are not allowed on a Keto diet. I have lost 24 pounds since the 21st. I sometimes find this diet a little depressing. But I’m getting through and do not cheat on it. Your recipe looks good. I miss carrots and peas and the corn too. I know I will have carrots added back into the diet later on. I happy with the progress I am making. I have a long way to go but know that I can do this. Thank you for your teaching videos. I appreciate them.

      Hi Marla, I know how intimidating this Keto lifestyle can be. When I started almost a year ago I knew nothing. Luckily there are numerous channels that can teach you. This channel is one of my favorites, of course. Mayra is amazing and I love her recipes. Also, check out Jess with Keto Rewind, she will inspire you. That girl has the sweetest personality. Also for solid health info Dr. Mindy is an absolute must. I started fasting and I could not have figured out what to do without Dr. Mindy's solid advice. If you want to have some compare different recipes check out Wes with Highfalutin' low carb. He is sweet and funny. Please, don't give up on yourself. As Dr. Mindy says, our bodies are miracles and we just need to learn how to heal ourselves.

      @@marlajowens It's amazing what you can learn on youtube. When I started watching Dr. Mindy Pelz and started fasting, my weight flew off. I had about 20 lbs to go and It was amazing. I was a little hesitant about the fasting part because I love to eat but it only took me a few weeks to get into it. It's truly awesome what your body can do. Anyway, I hope that helps. Nothing like a little encouragement when you're starting something new. Don't get discouraged, if you falter a little (we all do) go ahead and dust yourself off and get right back on track. No such thing as failure. :)

    I think I want to try this as a crock pot recipe with the crust as biscuits on top. We will see how it works. Also would love any other crock pot recipes you come up with. I have a very busy schedule and if I can just put it together in the morning to save time it's a bonus! Love all your recipes though! This looks great.

    I found the Chayote Squash at the local Walmart and was a bit skeptical of the smell after cooking them, but to my surprise they do mimic a potato quite well combined with a buttery tasting topping the pot pie turned out awesome! Only down side was I wanted more then 1 serving🙂

    I Made a potpie last week with a different recipe but used your cornbread recipe to top it. It was AMAZING!! Can't wait to try this version.
    Just wanted to add that I made your pumpkin pie as well as the cauli mash and gravy for Thanksgiving. With the corn bread of course. It has become a staple in my house. I am the only Keto person in my family, but My husband and son said the Pumpkin pie was THE BEST they ever had. I agree. Thanks for all the fantastic recipes. Haven't tried one yet I didn't LOVE!

    Instead of Chayote, You can use Rutabaga,Turnips or Daikon.. All of which are root vegetables mild in flavor but are similar in color and texture to cooked potato and a good low carb substitute.

    We called the chayote squash an alligator squash in Louisiana. It really absorbs whatever flavor you cook it with. Very versatile.

    This was so good… I made two of them!!!!
    I also made the potato salad that your friend made for your Birthday…. It was fabulous!!!
    The only thing I changed was I added bacon and use a little of the bacon grease in it…. That has always been what I have done when I make real potato’s salad.
    I could hardly tell the difference especially after it was chilled overnight❣️you are wonderful ✨

    Baked your topping without onion, garlic powder, used mozzarella and added sweet corn extract and it made the PERFECT cornbread:) Just FYI-Great with keto chili.
    The Chayote was very clever. I loved it!! To me it was more like Chicken and Dumplings...which I like better. Thank you!!

    I made this today and it was delicious. My husband and son loved. I did not eat it myself , because I'm on a more limited calorie keto diet. I've lost 60 pounds in 6 months. I'm at my goal weight, but I don't like to add heavy meals to my diet. I eat a lot of veggies , and moderate meat. I do collagen protein peptides in my coffee daily, plus some grass fed butter added. My meals are very simple, but I make things like this recipe for my husband and son. They loved loved it.

    Seriously, I love you!!! You just keep giving the joy of guilt free cooking. I just saw another youtuber make a pot pie but yours looks so much better. I know some folks might not be able to find chayote but if you have an Indian grocer near you, there is a low glycemic squash called Tinda, which are a similar texture and very mild tasting. Is there a keto Flan recipe perhaps coming???:)

    A great way to “flip the top on” is to put a rolling pin under the paper at about the halfway mark, lift it up over the filled pie plate, and match the near end of the dough to the near end of the plate, and gradually roll to lay it over the rest of the plate. No splashes, no mismatches!

    I have made this recipe 3 times and I can confirm that it is absolutely delicious and one of my favorite cool weather low carb recipes. My dough is way too wet to roll, so I just dollop it on top and it spreads out and covers the pie just fine. I use Costco bagged mixed veggies and rotisserie chicken that I have previously divided and frozen.
    My only stupid question is what to do with the egg mixed with water. Just add it to the filling mixture? I am scared to try anything, it is so delicious as is!

      The egg mixed with water is for the top of your pie so that it does not burn and that it turns golden brown. I do not think !aura showed that in the video. I think she forgot. 😂

    I have made this alot. It is the best pie i have ever made. It tates so much better than traditional wheat pastry. Also, it is alot quicker.. IBeing a vegetarian, I used Quorn chicken pieces. Sublime. Thanks for writing out the ingredient list. Makes life so much easier.

    We call chayotes, chokos in Australia. unfortunately they are not common to see in our grocery stores and I've really only come across them when someone has a choko vine growing in their garden. Great boiled and then smothered in butter with a touch of salt.

    😋 yumm... I may try Jicama instead of the chayote.. very mild and good raw crunchy. Cooks down like turnip type veggies. Also it is a good keto veggie. But I believe we should have chayote in Oregon 🇺🇸

    I'm going to send this recipe to my daughter. Two weeks ago she had got a chicken pot pie from Sam's club and I know they taste good but they have tons of carbohydrates so I believe she can make your pie for less money than she paid for the unhealthy store-bought pie so I'm going to send it her way cuz for one thing her husband is over 400 lb and he just turned 40 and he's got health issues and you know if you can find things that taste good that are low carb then it really helps you make good choices. I have been doing keto for a year and a half at least and I've lost 120 lb so far still need to lose about another hundred but my health is really improving and my son-in-law sees that.

    chicken pot pie is one of my all time favorites and i have missed it so thank you for this. question.. in description box the recipe for filling includes 1 beaten egg in 2 tbs water but it's not mentioned in instructions or video.. is that a typo?

    I think i'd use cauliflower in place of the chayotes since i've never seen anything like this in Bellefontaine Ohio.

      I bet radishes would be good too- they lose the "bite" when they are roasted and taste neutral, like potato.(another Ohioan!)

    Made this today, Pot Pie filling was spot on. I should know lol, I use to work at KFC. My crust didn’t set and get hard. I was using a flour with mct oil and some other wired stuff. Lol. Will definitely try again with regular almond flour.
