- 🛣️Stan and Rhonda take another adventure in Custer State Park. They decided to leave their RV behind and take the iconic Needles Highway known for its super narrow tunnels, incredible hikes along the way, and not to mention the famous Needles Eye rock formation. Their first stop is to hike the Cathedral Spires Trail through the magnificent spires of the Black Hills. At the end of the road they come across a medallion and meet Karen who is partaking in the Custer State Park Trail Challenge! They continue on the Needles highway and go through the Needles Tunnel. They Needles Tunnel is known for trapping unsuspecting travelers in their large vehicles. Stan and Rhonda stop at the Needles Eye and see the amazing display of God's natural beauty throughout Custer State Park. They take in the beautiful sites and views and continue up the road to Sylvan Lake. Once at Sylvan Lake, they decide to pump up the inflatable kayak and get on the lake. Stan and Rhonda were the only ones on the lake as a fast approaching thunder storm cuts their time on the lake a little short. They finish their day with a much deserved dinner at the Blue Bell Lodge. Come with Stan and Rhonda as they continue in their adventures in their best season yet, Into The Wild.

Hi. Great video. Brought back lots of great memories for me. I've been to lots of great outdoor places through the Northwest Part of the country, but have always returned to Custer State Park. I am 76 and no longer able to travel to the park and I miss so, so much. I loved this video. For those of you folks who like to fish, Sylvan Lake has a lot of trout. I've had many dinners supplied by this lake.

We loved our day at Custer. The needles highway was so much fun, and Becky’s car fit through the tunnel nicely. The lake was so crowded we couldn’t even find a parking space. That gives us a reason to go back next year, and Becky has promised me a new Jeep for graduation. That should be a lot of fun next year. Great adventure guys. Butch and Becky 😀😀

Hello Art, It must get pretty cold in North Dakota if you head to South Dakota to warm up 😂 We actually ended up heading to Theodore Roosevelt NP after we left South Dakota and fell in love with it up there. We look forward to sharing that adventure next month. 👏

@@OverTheHillAdventures During the day it was in the 70-80 but at night it was in the 30-40. The trees just started to turn. The cool morning would bring out more wildlife and good sleeping conditions at night. Can’t wait to see where you go next.

Nice that you got a chance to take the kayak out, and what a pretty lake that was! Sometimes that happens to us where we seemingly take as much time to inflate/deflate our kayak(s) than we actually spend on the water with them. When we went camping last week though, we inflated our kayaks the first day and used them about 4 separate times while we were there.

Rhonda you’ve got your paddles upside down. There’s usually a name on the that should face you and it right side up. You should be scooping the water. It’s definitely easier to paddle a non blow up kayak. We’re sure enjoying watching the two of you! Loving your adventures hopefully we’ll start ours next year.

I love SD. Visited for the first time 2 years ago and want to go again. Hiked both Cathedrals and Sylvan Lake, so beautiful plus drove all the highways.

Our biggest reason was to visit Mount Rushmore only to give way to so much more. The history in the area is incredible. We saw more wild life than we expected. A beautiful video. We visited Mt. Rushmore, Keystone and Rapid City in 2016 but never made it to Custer. We had a blast, nonetheless. Thanks for sharing your adventure. We would love to revisit the Black Hills. Don't know if we will be able to do it this year but next year is always possible.

Hello Bob and Dottie, we hope all is well. Our next video we will take you on the iconic Iron Mountain Road form Custer to Mt. Rushmore. We were surprised how small of a city Keystone was. We got their when they started to open the town up for the summer. Hills City is a wonderful little town to. It has the old 1880 train that runs through the Black Hills. You missed the best part! I've stayed in Custer State Park multiple times and have had several people tell me that they came to visit Mt Rushmore, then discovered Custer State Park and extended their vacatio0n!

My husband and I are thinking about getting a Kayak that inflates for storage reasons. How do you like yours? It looked fun in your video. We've never done it. Could be trouble 😅
Hi Susan, we love it! We actually took it out in the ocean which wasn’t the safest thing to do with the amount of sea life that surrounded us. Watch our Morro Bay video. Our daughter and her husband got one also after watching our video. They take it out in the harbor at New Port Beach in California. We highly recommend the one we have.
