    I agree totally with Usha Natarajan's assessment that SKR's rendition is by far the best on U-Tube.
    Vijayalakshmi Subramanian could be vying for the 2nd spot with a clear, precise & unequivocal presentation!

    A very rare and nice raga used and sung beautifully by Sri kalyanaraman. This raga is very peculiar that it gives a surprise feel with the
    same intervals as emotional mayamalavagowla ragam but starting just one note next. Music is astonishing indeed

    • @prasannasridharan3730
      @prasannasridharan3730 Před 3 lety +3

      The same feel can be felt in subhapantuvarali and chalanata with same intervals but different reference point and giving totally different effect. It's called Graha bhedam.

  • @tmadanmenon
    @tmadanmenon Před 2 lety +1

    Wonderful composition of Koteeswara Iyer 'arulL seyya vendum ayya arase murugayya' set in 'rasikapriya' ragam known as 'Rasamanjari' in Muthuswami Dikshitar school of Carnatic music . This ragam is special being the last Melakarta ragam out of 72 under the mela system! Technically can say that It is the prati madhyamam equivalent of last suddha madhyamam melakarta, 'Chalanata'- the 36th melakarta scale. Since it is a sampoorna-rgam, upon shifting notes by Graha-bhedam,we get other two major melakarta ragams- Mayamalavagowla and Simhendramadhyamam! . what a class tone and diction by the erstwile vocalist Tanjore Kalyanaraman ! Its very unfortunate that he left this world so early......real loss to the carnatic musc field..... Otherwise he would have become an exponent like DR.KVN, Chembai or DR.BMK ! Here his swarakaloana is extempore ....outstanding pranams to the great soul...

      @@naganathanvenkateshwar626 Yes...S. Kalyanaraman (SKR) , great grand-son of Komal Muthu Bhagavathar and grand nephew of vocalist Madirimangalam Natesa Iyer, became a disciple of maestro GNB ( G. N. Balasubramaniam) and then only he rose to stardom. He notated a book, the first volume of GNB compositions with Trichur V. Ramachandran ( also, a disciple of GNB) which was released by GNB. He formulated and tested methods to improve shruthi clarity in Carnatic musicians and innovative teaching methods. He planned a book with his findings, but it was never published. Like his guru GNB, SKR too refrained from using a 'mudra'!.

    Highly sensual experience!!! Has this been ever been said? I wonder if there’s anything one can say about SKR that hasn’t already been... I wonder if this is his masterpiece? Well, I wonder about that with most of his renditions! Oh btw, I realized that I am repeating myself! Obvious that I-among many others-have been cast in a spell of his ethereal music!
