7 Amazing Tricks with Yoshi in Super Mario Maker!

- It’s been a really long time since we last took a closer look at our favorite Super Mario Maker dinosaur, yoshi. And that’s a pity! Because recently I toyed around with Yoshi and as it turns out Yoshi and his egg are incredibly unique and amazing Super Mario Maker items. So today we are going to take a look at seven really cool Yoshi Super Mario Maker tips and tricks, that a lot of people probably don’t know about, and that have a lot of potential.

Here's another tip that may be useful for even Ceave! Yoshis only break from their eggs when on screen, and since Big Eggs make Yoshis run and land on note blocks, it is possible to use Yoshi eggs as loading contraptions, both vertically and horizontally!!!

This is really interesting seeing you use yoshi egg properties and more obscure tricks to create these awesome contraptions. It's gonna be my birthday soon and I'm (hopefully) getting Super Mario Maker for 3DS, so I will likely use some of these ideas for some levels I could make. My friend will be so confused yet amazed by these tricks...
But as usual, fantastic video.
I love how in every video he says tht every one of these contraptions are "suprisingly simple." It really gives me a great boost in confidence when i try to remake them. And even with the glitches in this game. I only own the 3DS version, but most of the glitches work on it. So thank you so much Ceave! You are a wonderful person and i hope you keep masking mario maker videos and these awesome contraptions that you build. My favorite was the mole cart! It was so hilarious.

I can think of a use for that last one. Invert the solution and make it a race; there are spikes in Mario's path, but if you slow your fall too much, the eggs will hit the ground, causing the egg below to spawn a mushroom that triggers a trap that kills Mario.
With the last one, you could probably test if mario entered the room trough the top (maybe a pipe), or through the sides. If you made the fall smaller, so you didn't need to slow your fall, but still made the bottom one hit the ground first if loaded from the side

I think there could be a lot of possibilities and things to explore! I could imagine u thinking up something crazy with winged lava bubbles and how they bounce of walls: maybe u could let one go bouncing infinitely around, and if you place like a pow that it will bounce into a bob-omb! (I'd understand if it isn't totally clear xD) Good bye!

Guess I never tried on-track blocks over spikes to create a walljump challenge like that either, didn't know that'd work!
Yeah, I had no idea that blocks on tracks also work for wall jumps until recently. It's really crazy how much is hidden in his game!

Hab einen „Glitch“ mit POW-Blocks gefunden: es hat was mit dem Punktestand zu tun: also; wenn du einen POW-Block irgendwo hinwirfst (am besten im Mario World Style nach oben) und ihn wieder auffängst, bleiben alle Punkte „gespeichert“: d.h. wenn du in einer Grube voller Bullet-Bills bis und den POW-Block die ganze Zeit nach oben wirst, farmst du automatisch One-Ups, auch nachdem du den POW-Block aufgefangen hast (du kannst ihn sogar ablegen und die Punkte (200,400,800... One-Ups) bleiben gespeichert: ich hoffe du verstehst, was ich meine...)
Habe keine Ahnung welchen Nutzen das haben könnte, aber ich glaube nicht, dass die Entwickler das absichtlich ins Spiel implementiert haben 🤷♀️

The vines will grow, if Mario goes down there to eat the fireflower. Duh. Also, the yoshi-only door requires Mario to be either small or with a theme-specific power-up. I hope that these levels got uploaded and that you uploaded something with many of these mechanics and, possibly, others. Your tricks could be combined into one level.

wow I was just playing around with yoshi eggs a few days ago
What is for the mid air ground pound trick there were stuff on tracks like saws so Mario had to balance going slow and going fast
I just found out that if you jump off yoshi, his falling speed is reset so if there is a pit jump where you only hit the very corner of the objective platform, But iff you jump off yoshi before you hit the edge, you can slide over and let yoshi slip onto the platform as well, I think this is a good expert tip
You could use the vertical speed tester for a "don't ground pound down the hole" tester
With the don’t eat the mushrooms idea, you could do the same thing with mushroom/fire flowers

the last one would be good in a troll level where the player is falling carefully (to avoid nasty trolls ) but reaches the bottom only find a p switch active and the floor gone. to solve you just need to fall quickly!

Hey Ceave, I know a work around for the “No Mushroom for Vine” contraption. What you need to do is use the progressive item mechanic to get 1-UPS
But the pipes only spawn shrooms.
I got it. Vertical test can be used in "Don't fall from too high" contraption.
In real life, falling from a big house is lethal, why don't do smething like this in Mario Maker?
