Are you in a Bible believing church where Holy Spirit has led you? That's first step. Get in the Word also and ask Holy Spirit, He's your helper and He'll never lead opposing to the Word so the Word you must be in.

May I ask a question. Jesus Himself said. My sheep know my voice and they will not follow another. Also it say a still small voice shall led you?
Jesus’s personality is not abrasive or loud, but you recognize it if you have relationship with him. If you have relationship with a familiar sound (in this case, voice), it doesn’t have to be loud
I find it difficult to know the difference between my spirit and my mind. How can we know the difference?
My experience (I'm still learning!!) is that we are on a journey of learning and grieving - so that it's kind of trial and error... I know that doesn't sound very spiritual, but I think the main thing is doing it WITH Holy Spirit, like "I think this is You/my spirit, so I'm going to step out in faith, but if it's not, please show me and steer me back"... Like Nancy said in an earlier episode, starting with the little things first. We will learn the difference as we move and experience. 😊
