    Exposing himself to a 16 yr. old is utterly SICK and perverted! What a traumatizing experience. Back then, women were shunned, shamed and fired for speaking about such experiences with powerful famous me. Only now, will they be listened to FINALLY after so many years of lost professional opportunities and painful and abusive wounds. I speak from experience having received similarly horrible abuse by famous classical music conductors who could get away with anything against attractive female Artists. Nobody would listen!!! It ruined my professional life. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

    As humans, we remember painful experiences longer and with far greater detail than we do our happy experiences. Therefore, the perpetrator who walks away feeling good because they've achieved their goal, easily moves onto the next thing. Whereas the victim who feels frightened, is unable to move on from the experience so easily.

    the operative word here is *ABUSE*, so not just only limited to SEXUAL ONES, BUT ALSO SHOULD INCLUDE VERBAL & PHYSICAL KINDS as well.
    i ve noticed powerful ppl/celebrities, MEN & WOMEN, tend to ABUSE whatever they think they possess. they hv mistaken PRIVILEGE as TANTRUMIC POWER.
    there r actors or actresses who would, IN A WAY ABUSING OTHER PPL'S TIME, turn up very late (if at all); being rude to ppl like hairdressers, prop, grip, assistant directors, etc around them; sometimes yelling at them; throwing things around; or even assaulting ppl.
    these ABUSIVE behaviors r NOT men's monopoly, let those NON-ACTORS & NON-BIG SHOT-ACTORS who suffer under them CALL THEM OUT & DENOUNCE THEM, LIKE THE WAY SOME WOMEN WOULD NOW APPEAR ON TV SHOWS SOME 40 YRS LATER TO ACCUSE THE SEXUAL ABUSERS.
    yea, TIME IS UP, the verbal & physical abusers WILL BE NEXT !!!?

    I honestly think this whole outing people over things they did thirty years ago is ridiculous. They'll disappear for a while and then everyone will forget and so what purpose does any of this serve? Jodie Foster did an interview with Jimmy Kimmel and had the most intelligent comments I've heard so far. She basically said there should be a summit meeting about this and also that to change this it needs to start at the grassroots level. How we teach our boys what is right and how you should treat women.
    And women should say something at the time it happens. I 've had men say and do inappropriate things to me and I told them at the time and they never tried anything again cause they were scared what the consequences would be if they didn't.

      How4Basic Think ppl didn't know how to stand their ground then, mb, but mostly, they didn't think thru what was to be started. Plus, the "matriarchs" of #HollywoodKnew what they did. In "them days," self -scorn meant others must bear the same cross to make sense of theirs, a hazing of sorts.
      Fast-forward, & In retrospect it's clear the "outing" of Weinstein was political hoping that by getting rid of one prob 99% of #Hollywood was sick of would be penance enough to go after Trump with piety. But, it backfired.
      That's why it's 2017 b4 anything gets said.
      Maybe all would've quieted down had Hillary won. Actress Rachel Weisz says Weinstein was the sacrificial lamb because he wasn't making money anymore, so it was an easy loss.
      As the saying goes, "No one expected the Spanish Inquisition," so likewise, none anticipated the fallout of Weinstein outting wld lead to a movement and loss of other, more "useful" celebs.

    the fact that the only response hoffman says after his allegations is that whatever uncomfortable situation he has put through someone working in the industry was not a reflection of the real him is honestly all too good to be true. him being a pig around these young women is honestly how he really behaves around women and not when hes around men. i can say that about men that are both young and old out there in the real world. whats the most disgusting part to me is the fact that these men think they still got the charm to entice these young women when in fact i think most younger women might like the attention that they are considered attractive to someone but not so much on the sexual harassment that comes with it because i know they are only giving in to these old pigs is because they are afraid of them not offending them/hurting their feelings especially if they have so much more money /power over you and also coinciding with them with your future career goals/ambitions into their hands.

Did we tell anyone no; why we didn't want him to find out where we lived. A year later my best friend was trapped in the women's restroom at a restaurant on the main street in town. Just when I went to go see what was taking so long she came up and told me that a naked man had blocked the door and she couldn't get out.
      The waitresses called the police as this had been happening frequently and they finally saw who it was, told us we could go so we wouldn't get treated badly by the media and in court as they had enough older witnesses.
      The a couple years later after another dinner a jogger comes by as we are waiting for our ride, he only has on shorts and shoes, lifts up his side of shorts to show us his genitals. We laughed and said he was small and toput that away. I could go on, but I'm tired of typing.

I think there's some kind of political and financial turnover happening in Hollywood, flushing out the old and bring in new and affordable studio operations - restructuring Hollywood - getting rid of those to expensive without paying off contracts.

    I get a kick out of some of this stuff,. REALLY. First question. Is there any woman alive that doesn't think at one time or another that they have been abused or sexually harassed? Answer = NO. Is there ANY famous person, skilled person, talented, rich person who doesn't offend at least a few people. Answer = NO. So if you look hard enough you are always going to find someone with their story to tell. It can't be verified, they didn't bring it up at the time, or it's simply their impression of what occurred. More often than NOT. It means absolutely nothing.

      Most men who suffer from sexual harrasment never bring it up because they are too ashamed, and live the rest of their lifes like that.
      I wonder if that's also because they think like you and think it was... 'not that big a deal'. Not everyone is brave, but if you want justice sooner or later you need speak up.

      Sadly the pendulum will shift to men blasting women for their gold-digging over-sexualized behavior. Then they'll be crying victim blaming again. I think victim blaming will be the death of women. How do we stand and speak about how powerful we are and demand equality but yet project ourselves are fragile helpless being. We can't have both ladies. And as a young woman who will soon raise a daughter, I choose the former. Keep your cries to yourself.

      So if he murdered people in the 80's we should just not judge him. Also perverts never stop being perverts. Not everyone knows how to deal with sexual harassment or assault, so cut the victims some slack. Abuser's are responsible for their behavior, not victim's.

    If women want equality, then they should simply take on the responsibilities of a grown adult and speak out when these alleged assaults take place and hold the man accountable. Why did the two women just take it and remain silent when these incidents supposedly happened? Why did they continue to have any dealings with Hoffman? Why didn't the third woman, who at 16 Hoffman exposed himself to, not tell her parents about it immediately? Why wait decades to get on TV and play the whiny victim?

    • @damianessing
      @damianessing Před 2 lety +2

      Assuming you are really interested in answers to your questions:
      "Why did the two women just take it and remain silent when these incidents supposedly happened?" - Probably because it is really hard to talk about this under any circumstances, but espacially accusing a famous, rich and popular man. Many people experiencing violence fear noone is going to believe them and they have to relive their experiences publicly many times without even archieving something.
      "Why did they continue to have any dealings with Hoffman?" - if their carrer depended on continuing to work with him, it is very difficult to quit. Also, maybe they could not even fully understand what had happened to them at that young age.
      "Why didn't the third woman, who at 16 Hoffman exposed himself to, not tell her parents about it immediately?" - Kind of related to the first question.
      "Why wait decades to get on TV and play the whiny victim?" - To "play" the victim is your interpretation, we both do not know what happened. I would like to ask you two questions about the "going on TV" bit: Do you believe women personally profit in any way from or like to talk about sexual harassment infront of a large audience? Why do you think only three of the five women who accused him agreed to be on TV?
      I do not know if he did it or not, but statistically, most accusations by far turn out to be true.

    • @decristal48
      @decristal48 Před rokem

      Way better than never 'play the victim' like lots of men do, when they suffer from sexual harrasment
      Most of them never come forward and speak up because they are too asshamed.
      Not saying that isn't understandable, but so you know: everyone is different.
