The InterCity 225 is an electric high speed train in the United Kingdom, comprising a Class 91 electric locomotive, nine Mark 4 coaches and a Driving Van Trailer (DVT). The Class 91 locomotives were built by British Rail Engineering Limited's Crewe Works as a spin-off from the Advanced Passenger Train project, which was abandoned during the 1980s, whilst the coaches and DVT were constructed by Metro Cammell in Birmingham and Breda (under sub-contract) in Italy, again borrowing heavily from the Advanced Passenger Train. The trains were designed to operate at up to 140 mph (225 km/h) in regular service, but are limited to 125 mph (200 km/h) principally due to a lack of cab signalling and the limitations of the current overhead line equipment. They are used on services from London King's Cross to Newark North Gate, Doncaster, Leeds, Bradford Forster Square, Skipton, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Central.

Fun fact: Other than classes of ten locomotives or less, Class 91 is the most recent example where the entire fleet shared the exact same livery. That was when GNER was running the show.
The original, IC Swallow was the best one.. they have never looked smarter.
Great Video.
The Ex-VTEC LNER Livery is my favourite
I quite like the new LNER Swallow.
@@davidty2006 Yes I agree, I really like it too.
Yes the IC swallow livery was the best and always will be.
@@ChrisPipinghotFacts
Recently the 225's had receive a repaint with a "revised" version of IC Swallow livery
1. The Class 91 Intercity Swallow is in 1988 to 1996.
2. The Class 91 is on GNER. 3. The Class 91 is on NXEC.
3. Class 91 is on East Coast Trains Livery.
4. The Class 91 is on VTEC/LNER
5. Class 91s are Europhenix like Rails Operations Group.
6. The East Coast Class 91 is on Sky 1 HD. 7. The Class 91 became a East Coast Skyfall livery. 8. The Flying Scotsman Class 91101 on East Coast and in 2023, LNER Intercity 225 Vlass 91101 Flying Scotsman. 9. Class 91 is on VTEC Christmas livery. 10. Class 91 has a Flying Scotswoman train. 11. The East Coast Class 91 is "For the Fallen" and it's replaced by VTEC/LNER Class 91111.
12. Class 91110 was a East Coast and VTEC.
13. Class 91 is Pride on LNER.
Always have fond memories of the GNER livery
For me in order of first to 3rd my favourite three 91 liveries were GNER Gold Branding, Swallow and EX-GNER NX
Fun fact: the class 91 faces north towards Edinburgh and the DVT class 82 faces south towards London.
Now you gotta update it with the LNER oxblood livery
My favourite class 91 is the intercity
GNER, Swallow&Ex GNER NX were my favourite Liveries.
Nice video!
Virgin east coast and swallow was the best one
I would say GNER is the best with Swallow close behind, VTEC was nice tho and LNER didn't change the livery
gner is the best
Gner was the best one for me
Very well put together video
As you can see, it's much cheaper to keep the old livery and add a few minor changes.
Lner:we need to rebrand the class 91 and class 43 oh i know! "slaps lner logo on the train" that's all we need to do with the old ones but we gotta do something with the azuma "removes the red bits from the train" "puts red lines on the train and logo" all done!
Nice - liking the shots.
Having no particular attachment to any of these, I think the GNER looks the best
Can’t believe you claim to be an expert but forgot to include the non red doors version of GNER.
GNER livery on a 800? Imagine that would have been smart.
Honestly, I kinda wanna see that
newcastle airport metro station history
how did we go from iconic Intercity Swallow and GNER liveries to "trainbow" and the current LNER stuff. Looks more like a can of coke
east coast trains= best
No because the Intercity 225 is the 91 not DVT and Grand Central run DVT with 90s
The best special liveries of the class 91 (intercity 225) is either for the fallen ( 91 111) or BBMF (91 110)
and 119 because it's the swallow

East Coast was by far the worst livery any train company had ever but especially on these. Also wish LNER had adopted the new one they wear now sooner as opposed to the VTEC with stickers 😂
