Celebrating 150 years of the London Fire Brigade
1866 - 2016. All though the majority of these clips were filmed in the last two years of this era, it's still my own tribute to their 150 year celebration!

Here's one for all you tech-heads out there, but why do some strobe lights only flash every week or so? Sometimes they appear not to be on at all, and then one flashes before going back to sleep!
Because the flash is so quick it happens in-between a lot of the frames a camera can catch per second.
If a camera catches 25 frames per second, a strobe can often flash inbetween those frames. But if it catches 60 frames per second then the camera is more likely to pick up a lot more strobe flashes in a frame.
Also depends on the definition - the greater definition, the more pixels are captured and thus are more likely to capture the spread of light around the beacon.
CobraEmergencyVideos - Europe......Thanks for your detailed reply. I never thought of that! I think because some of the 'bowl' strobes on this compilation appear to flash more often than others, I believed it was something to do with the light units themselves. I just assumed some of them were on their way out!!! Nice vid, by the way.
Some of The older ones did only flash every couple of seconds. Not only because of frame rate. Partly due to lighting regulations that flashings lights have to spend an equal or longer period off than on. And also because in England we don't like flashing things. It irritates us and is distasteful.

The first one they both came through the same one

do you know what the reel is above the hoses at the end
That's another hose reel, but it's for quicker access so as soon as they get out the vehicle they can use it straight away to spray on nearby flames.
I like the Hilo
And the one at 1:30 (idk what its called)
Same the hi lo is good. That's a yelp but on an American siren called the Mastercomm B!
Fantastic video but makes me so proud to be British to see all our capital cities fire appliances are now all German.
John Johnstone what british choice have they got? A 1960's bedford?
Well DAF aint British but are built in Lancashire so they would be a start! We should be showing our own products not overseas junk bought on the cheap. Dennis should make a comeback.
John Johnstone couldn't agree more since they became Alexander Dennis I think if they did they would be amazing. the old dennises were just incredible the bullhorn on them is incredible
London are all German though shame the capital city has to buy these, shows the world how great our own products were.
John Johnstone what products we don't make any trucks in the uk
why are there no two-tones?
London Fire Brigade don't use two tone horns.
CobraEmergencyVideos - Europe yes they do
London Fire Brigade haven't two-tone air on their appliances for donkeys years.
YelpBullhorn yes they do
