  • Questions asked in exams:
    1. Approach to short stature-Direct and scenario based
    2. Familial vs constitutional growth delay
    3. Define growth velocity. Draw a typical height velocity curve from birth to puberty for boys and girls. Discuss the utility of determining growth velocity.
    4. Short stature+ delayed puberty in 12 year old
There is nothing short about the topic and I have tried to make it as concise as possible for both theory exams and enable us to answer the examiners questions in Viva/OSCE. I have NOT talked about individual clinical features or investigations for a short stature. This lecture Is an approach based on just measurements and plotting on growth chart to reach a diagnosis/umbrella diagnosis for a short statured kid.
This discussion is only to help medical students and healthcare professionals to understand the basic concepts and enable them to approach a case/write in theory exams.I would like to reiterate that the information provided is a compendium of data obtained from various sources and the rights lie with the respective authors.

I have one question Dr....Why does the growth velocity of precocious puberty/ hypothyroidism is normal but projected height does not meet the target range of mid-parental height? I thought that if the patient's height is gonna fall short the mid-parental height in the future, shouldn't the growth velocity be abnormal?

Even though good ,but looking to your previous video, expectation was high,I think this topic could be presented by more simplified version ,(just for little better ment, other wise what ever u are doing is always good)

The standard of this presentation was higher and slightly more in depth on a subsection of short stature rather than discussing everything about it. I agree that, compared to my other lectures, this might look more complicated. The focus is on concepts and approach based on anthropometry and the science behind it backed with evidence. I feel this should be how a resident/post graduate should read a topic rather than blind reading from books.Thank you for watching doctor. Your critique is much appreciated.
