    Thanks so much for this breakdown... I'm new to making espresso and have both Illy and Lavazza... I was looking for a comparison and found you! Thanks! ☕️

    The best Moka pot coffee that I have tasted is "Illy Moka Pot coffee". Expensive but available from Amazon, your local Italian food store, or your national Illy distributor.

    I think you should spread out the needles outward as I also have but smaller version and I have always a problem distributing the clumps and so I tried that method and much better as declumping

    I JUST tried the 1882 Vergnano 800 blend today. It was very weak. I was disappointed.

    Nice video, could you explain why caffé vergnano (medium roast) got a grind setting of 8, while Lavazza grind setting was less? I believe you said light roast=finer grind, and vergnano is darker roast than lavazza. Thank you 😊

  • @alainreyers
    @alainreyers Před rokem +3

    Good test but imo all your 4 test was the grinder too coarse…. You should have a 2:1 in 30 sec….

    • @espressodoctor
      @espressodoctor  Před rokem

      Yes I think what happened was changing the settings every time didn't give the grinder enough time to adjust if that makes sense, I've seen a lot of people once they change the setting waste some coffee the first 3 4 seconds to give the grinder time to adjust, can't confirm though. I did also play around with the inner burr too made it finer so I am still experimenting with it too

      @@espressodoctor Your coffee ran way to fast. You using double shot (18g) for a single cup. Brew ratio also doesnt fit. should be 2:1. Means by 18g of coffee should get around 40g of grinded coffee and around 20ml of shot ind around 20-30 seconds. Your coffe ran like 10 seconds I guess.

    Lavazza, Kimbo, Segafredo, etc. ($0.45/oz) and similar brands are nothing special and it's not worth paying for their "supreme" versions, it's pretty much all the same quality coffee that may have been roasted a year ago. IMO Illy ($1.25/oz) is by far the best Italian brand, but it's also 2x or 3x the price. For top quality coffee that's worth the money, it's best to buy from a specialist roaster like Intelligentsia ($1.40/oz). This coffee has usually been roasted a few weeks before. A local micro roaster is also an excellent option and this coffee may have been roasted just a few days earlier. Once you go down the speciality coffee rabbit hole, you'll realize the differences are huge.

      Single origin fresh coffee is best but not everyone has access to it

  • @colinmountford5476

    Coffee doesn't have a long life expectancy, by the time you are finished all that stuffing around. I would be either too tired to drink or the coffee has lost its flavour. I've had your machine and I make an equal coffee in a simple Di Longhi Dedica. No bull with it. My daughter uses my Breville machine, she said there really isn't much difference in taste. A good roast is best. Review is not for me.
