this idea is much more important than you think. it can be very useful for all those one-handed people. and still want to have fun with a console.
you should patent this, if you still haven't.
Respect for sharing instead of trying to make money
I follow a CZcamsr literally named Onehandedgamer, he could really use this.

Wow, never heard anyone call the symbols on a playstation controller "x", "zero", "delta", and "kuchi". No pattern whatsoever. I love it!
It was chaotic and I live for it
Almost feels like it was intentional
that part stressed me out
ah yes the ps controller buttons, ex, theta, dorito, chgnsnxc
I call them "x", "circle", "triangle" and "square" in my language but I heard someone calling the first one "cross"

"Single-handedly transformed gaming for the better."
What a wholesome and humorous approach. You sir are an inspiration.

That's amazing! I've been looking for something like this for my son. He has right side hemiplegia and has little to no use of his right hand, but he loves gaming. He mostly plays one-handed keyboard and mouse on PC, but having the option to use a controller easier would open up some good options for him. I'll definitely be printing this for him ASAP.

Thank you all for your kind words 😊 I'm so happy to live in a time where technology can assist those people less fortunate or less able bodied. Everyone deserves to live their best life, and these kinds of devices can make that happen. 👍
You are a good person and a great father! My best wishes for u and ur son! Liked your comment hoping this guy can see the message and send u the blueprints
I'm a one armed gamer, thank you so much for this mate. Have never been able to play console, only pc due to the custom controls I got going. But this opens me up to PS exclusives hehe. Going to print this up and set it up in right hand mode.
Again thanks for putting this up for free mate 🦾 legend

I don't have any mobility issues or anything but thanks for putting this model up for free. It's people like you that give me faith in humanity. I'm gonna print it anyway. :D
Akaki Kuumeri, I just wanted you to know that at this years Game Awards, I was really hoping to see your creation and your name on the list for Accessibility Award. I was absolutely furious to see not only the award go to GoW purely for recency bias, but that you were not mentioned whatsoever. I assure you, you've done more to actually make games accessible to people than a colorblindness mode has. As far as I'm concerned, that award is yours.
Looking at this gives hope for disabled gamers, my father suffers a stroke over 6 years ago and he used to enjoy playing some games in his spare time with me growing up. He lost his right side and trying to find controlers or extra devices that would be easy for him to use was a bit hard. Especially limiting since some other games were more action and fast paced reacting. Hoping to possible look further into this but this is great!
3d printers are cheap these days. Supposedly libraries let you print stuff on their 3d printers too, but ive never known anyone who has actually done it, so idk how it works. You could look into that though. Last black friday the ender 3 (3d printer) was only 100 bucks though. Its still pretty cheap. Honestly its almost worth it just to get into 3d printing. It doesnt require both sides of your body, and that way he could fine tune his controller adapter to suit his needs better. The ender 3 is a great entry level printer with tons of room for upgrading and tons of cheap parts available online. 3d printing is a great hobby for anyone imo. There are probably more youtube videos and parts available for the ender 3 than anything else since its so common. With about 60 bucks in chinese "clone" parts you could upgrade the ender 3 into a pretty serious 3d printer. He could make one handed versions of whatever he needed in whatever material he wanted it in. For this, any cheap stiff PLA filament is probably best but there are tons of materials out there. Nylon and polycarbonate (bulletproof glass) are super fun to print with IMO. If he learned to design though he could make things that would benefit others too. The people who actually need these products are often the best at designing them because they put their heart into it and are better at testing them in a realistic manner. Designing on a program like tinkercad is actually super easy. If you can use microsoft paint you can use tinkercad. A 5 minute youtube instruction video and an hour of tinkering with it and youll be a pro. Its very intuitive and doesnt have a steep learning curve like other programs like fusion360. You can load existing designs into tinkercad really easily and make your own tweaks to it. The only downside is that its browser based and sometimes changes can load slowly. Anyways, I apologize for how long this comment has dragged out, I just think 3d printing is a lot of fun and would be an especially useful skill for someone who needed custom tools/parts for one handed use.
World of Warships is slow-paced and it could be played (mouse & kb) one-handed. Probably has the oldest player demo out there, "the game for grown-ups".
I wish you and your father the best 💜💜
I play with an Xbox controller with one hand because my right side is crippled and I just use a regular controller with no add-ons. I set the controller on my lap and use all 5 of my fingers and I find it very easy. Note: I use the right joystick with my thumb, and the left joystick with my palm.
Right.
I don't personally have mobility issues but I can tell this is going to be extremely valuable for a lot of people. Thank you for putting in the time to make something like this!
Honestly he can make a profit from this, even the ever age Joe can use to for finger dexterity
@@kamikazehound3243 nah, he's doing it the right way. Its usually not the person's fault they don't have use of an arm, so why should they have to pay more just to enjoy gaming like the rest of us? Its just unfair. Giving an option to donate and giving the blueprint out free of charge is the moral high ground here. mans doing gods work.
@@HaplessOne true true, I'd at least name it after myself so I get my credit for it
@@HaplessOne i know that is really good he is doing this for free, but i cant avoid to think that some unscrupulous people maybe will be looking to make a profit from this.
if you don't have mobility issues it's even better, you can now play two ps5 games at the same time.
I was going to bully this one by seeing linkedin post of someone printed same design since I am also disabled myself. But from the video I saw it is not like I have seen on photo that don't show the features well. Absolutely brilliant design and it adresses disabled person's needs well. You are really a one that deserves so much respect for doing something like that. I am speechless.

I am lucky and can play with both hands but this is wow. It should be promoted wherever possible. Thank you for doing this. I saw so many people playing with different disabilities and they are amazing, I have infinite respect for them.
Honestly I'd by this even though I have both hands just cause I'm lazy 🤣. Seriously though, as simple as this may seem I think it's genius.
Try playing a two player game with one controller in each hand.
After a motorcycle crash obliterated some bones in my right hand I could only play turn based games, and barely that. Things are normal now, but I have a major appreciation for this technology.

Wow! I love that you went with mechanical linkages for the buttons, its functional but also just super cool to see the stacked levers
this is exactly what 3d printing is for. innovation without having to pitch your ideas to a third party/financier who is only looking for profit, over function.

I've been trying to design and print some solutions based on anothers designs I found thank other creators just to let a friend of mine play videogames... Due to nobody shared the files to facilitate print it, it was a really hard job. Thank you Akaki! You are an example for everybody, you have spent a lot of time designing and trying a solution and you just shared with everybody for free! Thank you so much!
The controller could be made easier to use for harder games that require you to move the analog stick and press an icon button simultaneously.
You could orient the icons vertically and push them further to the left. This would place them on the left-hand side of the controller and run down the side of the controller. This would allow you to use your index finger for icon selection while maintaining full control of the analog stick. Your middle and ring fingers can take on the responsibility of the left and right back buttons.
You should still have plenty of support on the controller, considering a lot of the load is taken on by your lap.
This is absolutely amazing what you have done, bringing accessibility to gamers.
I love seeing innovation like this. I hope this makes getting into or staying involved in gaming seem a little less daunting for those who can’t use two hands.
I think they probably mostly play PC with custom inputs or use the Xbox accessability controller specifically made for gaming despite disabilities (you can even plug any input device in the contoller to add buttons or other inputs). Microsoft truly went the extra mile despite knowing it won't be profitable while Sony made PS4 Controllers incompatible with the PS5.
Im one those ppl . Cerebral palsy's a bitch
@@maddogsteve5507 I would suggest just getting a joystick with a wider button array, probably easier than making a custom attachment for a controller not designed for single hand use... That way you don't need to worry about wear and tear breaking it mid play.
I only have my right hand, how can this help me?! I was so hyped but 😤
@@aodigital9421 The controlled is essentially symmetrical so you can just mirror image the current design and it works just the same. It might only need some adjustments to the pads that touch the on the directional buttons but that is about it.
A very reasonable concern but relatively trivial to fix.

I can make the exception for circle being called 0. I've heard it called O (like Oh), Circle, now Zero. Hell, we used to call the Square button the Box button
But hearing Triangle referred to as Delta took me for a loop.

The obvious standard has to be consistent (shapes). Square, circle, cross, triangle. Everything else is just stupid.
@@johanlahti84 I grew my whole life calling that button the "X" /ɛksˈ/ button and only heard "cross" like a few years ago. Saying "X" still seems justified to me because I will refer to that shape as being an X elsewhere in life, more often than I would say cross in fact. Maybe it's an American English vs British English thing? I rarely say cross as a noun

as someone who just pushed past N5, "口" made me smile. This is an ingenious design, especially as it can be applied to any remote. I've gotten through enough gamepads in my time and I often wondered as a kid if there was anything for people who couldn't grab the controller with both hands.
These "crossbars" remind me of trigger linkages in firearms modified to fire with the trigger in a different position. It's so cool that these can be printed. I will keep this in mind if I ever make a friend or have a family member who I want to play games with and cater to their differing needs. I bet as a project, these controllers will get even more intuitive to use and easy to produce.
As someone who speaks fluent Japanese this made me smile too :P

The ergonomics of this are really cool. I can't stop thinking about how it could be altered for different configurations. A little quality of life change would be to add a backstrap to stabilize your hand better. Could improve control of the R3 stick and lessen potential accidental movement and clicks of the L3 stick and buttons. Super awesome work man!
That's slick dude,nice job💪💪

Genius, PlayStation should buy this design and make it easier and streamlined. Most people don’t realize only having one hand completely changes everything ins and around your life
While they're at it, they should make braille video games for blind players...
Greed. If they can't target a veeeery large audience they will not do it. Third party companies usually still have a heart and aren't focused on gaining money the fast and easy way, they will be the ones making this.
