    Nice new feeder 👍
    When putting silage bale in do you pickup dirt from yard? You don't really want that in there
    Could you demo one of those bale grab/slicer which holds wrap and net think that would make your life easier 👍

    George I fed bales in a diet feeder last winter as we hadn’t enough cattle to open the pit. I would open and remove the net from all the bales for the 2 loads and then load them as I need them with a large grain bucket against a wall. It means less getting in and out

  • @dykehead1
    @dykehead1 Před 2 lety +3

    You could do with an apron of concrete and a wall to make it easy for rehandling the bales

    When cutting silage bales I used to put 2 on the forks leave them on forks while I cut a cross in the ends and pulled back ends then put them on there ends pulled off wrap with forks then jumped out cut the bet off and then pick bales up and drop them in feeder. Found it much quicker

    Something to feed the shiny metal disease as well as the cows. An idea with the buttons for the control box is ye could buy a pack of 'rubber feet' what's used for setting on the bottom of furniture. Buy a pack of the tiny clear ones and just stick em on the buttons so u have the bumps.

    Italian Zago,Supplied by King feeders uk
    These are the dogs nuts of machines,
    If they're as good as they were made back in 2004 Ecogreen,, I seen them in a recycling ♻️ yard eating TV, fridges of all size, mattresses, wood, felted shed roofs, seen it chew a palm tree today,
    Another customer has the Eco green one same as George's video with the twin top augers using the ninja star style blades on a massey 4270, 1000pto, it chews green waste for fun, Will mulch branches the circumstance of a slice loaf easily all day every day,
    George like the last feeder you will get plenty of use out of this one, Just keep the bearings well greased, Good vid,,✔

    You could do with the bale handler that takes the wrap and net save getting the silage dirty.

    George, your comments about the move to smooth touch-screens are equally true for cars. Now you have to take your eyes off the road to see which “virtual button” your are pressing, unlike older toggles or rotary dials. They should learn from aircraft ergonomics, where control panels still have real switches, dials and levers. On the upside, your new feed wagon control unit is now wipe clean if it gets dirty from mucky gloves!

    The augers in the green waste shredders are hardox and these are available in the feeder machines.
    The auger flights are 12 mm at the ends but are 15 mm in the middle where most of the work takes place.
    They can be ordered double thickness or the standard ones can be hard faced welded.

    Hi George my question same as a few others why do you prefer bale silage to pit silage surely pit silage is cheaper and also less labour intensive as you don't need to cut bales and remove net wrap

    • @owensfarminglife-3626
      @owensfarminglife-3626 Před 2 lety

    • @Doyler-gd1su
      @Doyler-gd1su Před 2 lety

      Just asking a question, rather than stating the obvious- just interested in the reason as net wrap and silage wrap are very expensive.

    • @owensfarminglife-3626
      @owensfarminglife-3626 Před 2 lety

      @@Doyler-gd1su yeah I know net wrap/plastic is very expensive as we do all bales at the min but considering doing a pit next year I was just saying maybe they don’t have a pit

    • @HughzieTube
      @HughzieTube Před 2 lety

      They would need bloody big pits, George has said in the past that some of them bales are going on 2 years old.

    Does seem strange that you now have to look at your controller to see what button you are pressing, seems like a safety issue too as now when you press a button your not looking at the machine, maybe contact them and see if they can develop a cover that has indents to put over it

  • @Dermot501
    @Dermot501 Před 2 lety

    Best of luck with the new mixer wagon👍Is it 3 bale challenge time again?🔪⚫⚫⚫⏱

  • @Chieftain7530
    @Chieftain7530 Před 2 lety

    What draws you to the horizontal type augers rather than a vertical 'tub-mixer' style auger machine out of interest? They certainly don't stay new for long as soon as you get some silage acid in there. I don't understand why they don't use harder metal than bog standard steel for the knife parts, hardened tips on cultivators are fairly common so you'd think some of that development would be used.

  • @billupstateny9151

    • @linuskallin448
