The thing I appreciate most about Matt, is that he clearly believes in the value of gaming. It's made him what he is, and he has absolutely no qualms about pointing that out. More importantly, he makes every effort to try and invite others to discover what makes gaming great and transformative.

I love that every time a new Matt Mercer interview comes out-- it doesn't matter how many times he gets asked similar questions, he always has something new to say on a subject. I love hearing about the thought and creativity and compassion that goes into everything he does. People like Matt are what makes the community as wonderful as it is.

Critical Role C2 got me through the worst year of my life. I will never forget the intensity of when they fought the blue dragon in the Folding Halls of Halas. I bursted into tears after the end of the fight and also hearing thousands of people cheer was a heartwarming feeling. Thank you.

As I sit in bed watching an episode of The Mighty Nein, watching the small screen while the big screen plays a thing of comfort. Matt, you are one of the biggest sources of inspiration many people have. Your voice work is incredible in its variance, your world building is atsounding in scope and scale. Your love for your community is inspiring and genuine. It's still the fact that you love/live to fuck up your players' minds as they fall in love with the worlds and stories you build, and how you accept the chaos that they bring. You frekking rock. +1 to all the things. Thanks for all you do.
Matt Mercer is incredible, I don’t think he will ever understand how he has changed many peoples lives. Him and the CR team
A supportive family, engaged parents, are such foreign ideas to me. I grew up largely ignored at home unless I was in trouble. It is good to know there are people growing up with parents that are involved, that is the future I'd like to see.
I love when he saw the size of the crowd and his brain went "Oh My!"
On what he said about others wanting you to succeed, I recently came across a quote by Neil Gaiman, who said many of his successful past projects he got because someone else recommended him, or encouraged him to apply for. Sure, there may be a lot of people talking behind your back, but not all of them are hating on you, some are praising you, gushing over you to their friends, and praying for your success. 😁

Such a great video. Couldn’t love Matt more if I tried. He’s just such a delightful and passionate person. Great seeing & hearing about his earlier life and how everything led him to where he is now. The pics the CR cast snuck in were hilarious.
Most of all though the questions asked at the end were brilliant and Matt gave such thoughtful and eloquent answers. Never change Matthew Mercer.
I grew up drawing, I always had a drawing-pad, when we went on vacations, I spent the long hours of driving in the back seat drawing away; I still have most of the pads, filled cover to cover. And that helped with my creativity, I would see a TV show, movie, or video-game and I was inspired to draw the characters, despite my poor drawing skills, similar to Matt apparently, which despite taking Art almost every year in school didn't improve my hand-drawing skills, but then I found Microsoft Paint. 😁 But, I have always been creative, even developing the eye and mind for making intricate designs, like an exploded view of something, or drawing a 3D object from all sides; my parents still talk about how amazed they were that I was doing that at like 10yo, probably helped by also having a big box of LEGOs and K'nex. 😁 And I also loved playing video-games, I had the first Nintendo, with Mario, Duck Hunt, and ?Contra?, then the Gameboy, and then the X-Box and Wii, playing games like Zelda, Halo, Elder Scrolls, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and many others, becoming so fascinated by the stories and lore of the games, inspiring even more creativity. And all that, combined with my love of DnD, anime, History, fantasy, sci-fi, etc., led to me now being a writer (nothing finished or published yet, YET), and doing concept art for my stories; hopefully I'll be ready to share my stories with the world soon. 😁 Maybe that's why I love Critical Role and the cast so much, I guess I felt a connection that I hadn't noticed before. 😁
Love that I share the same entry point into DND as Matt. That ADnD Monster Manual was a game changer

There is so much wisdom in this, I will be rewatching this for years to come.

Gurps: Where buying armor points was cheap, but buying health was expensive. Wonderful for campaign balance: You take 500 damage. Great, it bounces off my 510 pts of armor. You take 540 pts of damage. OK, I take 30 health, so I'm dead.

Rifts was greatest broken table top RPG in the 90s
You could literally play a Vagabond; just a normal dude with no special equipment or powers except, like, campfire cooking skills. Or you could be a Hatchling Dragon with magic, psionics, an innate shape shifting ability, and bullet-proof skin.
It's still a fun setting with the right GM.

The art in the OG MM2 was a big influence on me in 5th grade
And Palladium system was the best thing as a teen dude in the 90's, though I got in through the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game. Their system for building mutant animals is a character generation dream.
If you wanna see the true character of an actor, give them a social media account.
It would have been nice to see this in person. My only gripe about this con was that all the special talks and classes were overbooked before most people had a chance to even register. It's a huge con. Please start making room for all the people who are attending. It's not like the convention center doesn't have the space for it.
