- Started filming before the wind swept in and during. See a power transformer blow up across the street (start watching around 3:35 for just the fireworks to see if you get as spooked as I did ;).
Looks a bit like a Wall Cloud trying to churn.
That is not a transformer explosion,in fact transformers rarely explode at all, they can but it takes pretty extreme circumstances to make it happen, this was a simple arcing fault, phase to phase or phase to Neutral/earth.
Any idea what that sound was starting at 3:58? Like an electrical wave? Typical? Atypical when a fault this large happens?
@@ebirm1 The sound you hear is simply the arcing process, when two electrical conductors come in contact with each other under fault conditions you'll hear a very violent loud abrupt noise, such as the one in your video, phase & neautral & phase & ground conductors are not supposed to come together unless it it is through an electrical load under normal circumstances, but when wind blows one live or phase conductor into another one or Neutral or ground this is when the arcing process occurs it's a very distinct vibrating sound & it is extremely dangerous.Hope that helps.

@@buddy7136 think it Derecho
@AndrewWes2005 I haven't heard that they have called it one. A derecho has to meet time and distance requirements to be called one. The wind speed was there though.
