    That's mostly Brent Hinds on vocals later also Troy

    I was on here listening to some Mastodon and stumbled upon this video. It's very cool to see a young person listening to metal, hard rock, grunge etc... I'm also fairly new to Mastodon (Past several months) and this song is probably my favorite of theirs. If you thought this song was awesome, I think you would also really enjoy The Czar from the same album. It's another 10+ minute epic! Well, I'm off to check out some more of your reactions. Peace✌

    The one with the Southern drawl is Brent Hinds, the lead guitarist. The one who sings in the higher register and has the voice of an angel is the drummer, Brann Dailor. The one with the raspy voice is the bass player Troy Sanders. I love them all.

      I love this band so much. More of them to come for sure.

      Yeah, that's how Mastodon members sound vocal-wise, but that doesn't exactly answer his question. This track is all Brent, with the exception of the "Ghost of man..." and "Will he save me" sections, which were done by Troy (although he's singing with a much more clean tone here compared to the more raspy sound he mastered afterwards). For the overdubbed vocals, Troy usually does them live to support Brent.

    Mastodon is godly, best discography in metal since 2002. You should check out their song roots remain, features imo the lead guitarists best solo, amazing vocals from the drummer plus killer riffs and drums all throughout, roots remain is closer to more than I can chew in sound and structure compared to the last baron. Lead vocals in this one are from the lead guitarist Brent hinds, Drummer Brann Dailor doesn’t sing in this one and Troy sanders the bassist does a little bit brent sings by far the most in this one. Brann the drummer didn’t start doing a bunch of lead vocals until the album after this, this is the first album he sings on but his role as a singer increased a lot for the following 4 albums. Anyway nice reaction man, hope to see you checkin out some more mastodon in the future.

    Epic song by a truly special band. Other favorites of mine amongst very many you may want to check out (that you haven’t already) include Jaguar God, Sickle and Peace,
    , Teardrinker, Blood and Thunder, Sleeping Giant, Mortal Soil, Black Tongue, Colony of Birchmen and Tread Lightly. Keep going, they do not disappoint despite changing style across their discography.

    Sweet! you took my suggestion im glad you enjoyed it also the member who sings predominantly on this song is Brent Hinds the lead guitar player, he actually is the one wrote the majority of this album

      @@cadence.presley Mastodon has a wide and deep style that is so entertaining. I saw them with Gojira two days ago, and that was a fun show.
      Thanks for your reaction!

    • @dustybaron5942
      @dustybaron5942 Před rokem +1

      @@bevrosity They played maybe half new stuff and half from all their older albums, so it was a good mixture.

      @@dustybaron5942 good, cuz the last 2 concerts they played almost exclusively from their newest album. i get it and it's an amazing album, but not what I'm looking to rock out to in a live setting.

    Love seeing you get into these kinds of bands my dude. I was your age when I found a bunch of metal that I still listen to now as a 30 year old. If you’re into these long epic songs, check out the song Shogun by Trivium or Save Me by Avenged Sevenfold. 2 epics that are well worth a listen
