- For those who have never been there, but have heard of it, the village of Rabo de Peixe belongs to the parish of Ribeira Grande and is considered the largest fishing community in Azores, being often pointed out as the poorest parish in the region. It is located on the north coast of São Miguel Island and has a very young population in its almost 9 thousand inhabitants. It has not had an easy life, but its fishermen are admired for their courage to face the sea in search of sustenance and a contribution to the local economy. It is with a great desire to meet these people who believe in the relevance of their work and in the ability to create value for the community that Fátima Lopes embarked on a new journey to the sea, this time to experience the insolar reality. In her logbook she carries a big question: how is this community of fishermen changing the course of destiny to cast the net for a more prosperous life and inspire young people to make a worthy future out of fishing? Let's find out the answer through the inspiring story of Manuel Moniz and his son Hélio Moniz. It is with them that we learn that the bottom longline is one of the most important gears in catching the largest fish and that this is the most common type of fishing used by fishermen in Rabo de Peixe. This is the first episode of the new season of the series Mudar para Melhor, which returns with an incursion to the Azores, the first archipelago in the world to be certified as a sustainable tourism destination. A region that wants to be part of the best world you can have.

Sou Brasileiro e tenho grande admiração por Portugal, depois que comecei a assistir os vídeos de um youtube ai da ilha de São Miguel, o Sr. Antônio Travasso, passei ater uma admiração muito grande pela Ilha, vejo as feiras, as festas religiosas e tenho visto que a Ilha de São Miguel é o lugar aonde vive os Verdadeiros portugueses raiz, os Portugueses tradicionais, Um povo unido pela fé e suas tradições, é muito lindo, Eu só não conhecia a verdadeira história da vila rabo de peixe mas, já vi muitos vídeos de suas festas tradicionais, parabéns a todos.
Antônio Bernardo...eu tbm sou brasileiro mas te confesso uma coisa eu não consigo entender nada do que o povo de São Miguel fala, só entendi o que o senhor manoel falou pois ele se esforça para falar igual os portugueses do continente, eles tem um sotaque parecendo um sotaque francês...vc consegue entender o que eles falam.

@@durvalalgusto6096Eu como português este senhor Manuel entendo mas esteve lá em 1988 durante 4 meses e com os pescadores ou o povo simples não entendia nada mas o mais incrível é que eles nos entendiam perfeitamente, e se viveres com eles muito tempo vais entender mas a tua fala vai modificar (vai se aproximar da deles)
