I have a huge vision to someday have a CZcams channel that showcases many styles of sustainable practices and home building techniques (like Abudacrete, cob, soil compressed bricks, etc.). I would like an in ground Hobbiton village as well as a treehouse Ewok Village, as well as other dwellings on the property. These dwellings would house volunteers from around the world that will donate labor to run a large farm and various projects and will eat fresh raised food during their stay.

Awesome! The course teaches several options but the template used for the spreadsheet and math equations is a 384 square foot barrel vault - great for wind! Abundacrete is good for humidity especially with the self healing waterproof stucco!

Is Abundacrete what you are calling the shredded EPS/Aircrete mix? I've been wondering, does the mix hold nails at all? Wonder how you could attach moisture barrier to it
Yes it does have EPS as the main ingredient but does not require aircrete anymore! It does readily receive nails, the course also teaches an extremely affordable waterproofing additive for stucco that is better than a moisture barrier!

Yes you can do any shape! For domes it may be easier for you to pair Abundacrete with earthbags. We found it was so lightweight you can carry the bags around and shape them easily! The precision of your woodworking cuts for domes in other methods is possible but more challenging

Thank you! What a great cause! Abundacrete can be made without special chemicals but achieving the waterproofing effect in the stucco does require one key additive that is affordable and is easy to get in the US and probably Mexico. You can use elastomeric roofing paint also, but the additive is actually much cheaper than the paint

There is a section in the course that covers it. Ultimately every regulatory jurisdiction is different so that's why we teach an array of options for how to build with Abundacrete that can fit within the code in most areas
can you make a pre-form for interlocking blocks?
Yes but the blocks need to be in compression while they set. We prefer the pour in place method with gravity assisting because it's fast and easy!
looking forward to more content and information. VERY interested in course and attending training, but need more information. Please give us a better idea of what is possible, what it costs and how labor intensive. I'm interested in affordable rental units. Normally two-story duplex's are most cost effective. However, in you earlier videos your formula was not strong enough for two story. Where are you now? Also, in one comment to said you had an option for a pad or foundation to build on, am I correct about that?
Thanks for watching! Yes, we are still building and hired a videographer to help us make the next step and share information in an improved way. The two story workshop is still holding up well! You can use this for the slab as well with modifications. This building method comes out to about $5 per square foot and has no limitations on shape or height but for two stories you should use a structural engineer to confirm your plan is solid. Rental ROI is amazing with this method no doubt!

I have been following you for over a year. This looks GREAT! I AM totally off grid doing agricultural research in a RAIN FOREST! Using a tent and van for shelter. Does this material stand up to a Rain Forest environs? I Am on solar power. What power tools will I need to build with this? Are ANY building plans included? You technically don't need any power tools but it is a big time saver to have a barrel mixer and stucco sprayer - the class provides links for products and building options for less tool requirements. Can you use styrocrete in the foundation?
Yes that is covered in our online class! We vary the mix a bit with 4 inches of Abundacrete then 2 inches of standard cement on top. This creates a better insulated slab at a lower cost!

The course definitely provides all of the information to build any size or shape! The buildings that we have built so far are four successful prototypes, this next house is just because we can build an affordable house for Stephen's son! Haha
Hi there, after building a house with Abundacrete, can you get the house insured? How about a certificate of habitation from the county that requires building to intl building code standards? Thanks for taking time to address these questions.
There is a section on that in the Online Class. We offer several options for how to build with Abundacrete that give you flexibility to fit within codes and insurer requirements in most areas. Worst case scenario you can build in a standard way then insulate with Abundacrete.

Thanks Vincent! I remember our prior conversation. We have not yet needed a residence permit and won't have to pull one for the barndominium which is a residence. In the Online Class we offer several options that give flexibility with a regulator to find a mode they will approve of, even if you have to go with standard framing and siding with Abundacrete insulated backfill. The methods we use are similar to many approved products so if you have a common sense regulator, your plan should be approved - but you can't bank on common sense these days haha

Yes the bags are pretty handy, they have straps ready to hang! We just Google searched styrofoam manufacturers and found the closest one. The goal was to make a system simple enough and affordable enough to easily replicate!
Your styroaircrete videos exited my to start some test project for our non-profit nature loving club in Europe - Austria. And abundacrete looks even more promising. However, tools, materials and addons are often not available over here e.g. Drechsel for foam generation, which makes it nasty as we have to experiment a lot ourselves.
Will the materials and tools also be available in Eruope?
Will the course soon be availalbe in German? Should we help with that and help adapt it to EU environment?

Yes we give traditional plumbing guidance! There is a breakdown of all material cost to build but not labor; you could add that to the spreadsheet. The spreadsheets are editable, so the total updates based on your square footage! The e-book comes with the course purchase.
How much does styrocrete slab cost compared to a traditional concrete slab? What approximate percentage cheaper?
You can do 4 inches of Abundacrete at about $2 per square foot under 2 inches of standard cement for a slab

How does Abundacrete take nails and/or screws? Such as those that would carry some weight like upper kitchen cabinets?
It readily takes nails but for heavier things like cabinets you need to plan ahead and frame in the wall in order to have a stronger nailing surface.

Been following Stephen for a few years, and always appreciated his creativity. I'm very excited to learn about this new system. I have been incorporating aircrete in some of my masonry projects, such as aircrete panels to isolate my fireboxes from any combustibles. It has been amazing.

To make a panel, you would need a large press to make it happen and the panel cannot be too large to carry. In the course we talk about several different pouring concepts and earthbags which pair great with Abundacrete because it is light weight!

Many people are interested in the course I am sure. For example, the options could be:
1. One time full payment
2. Save until ready to buy
3. Pay as you go
The third option could work best for me. That means, the course could be divided into modules, then every month, someone could pay a minimum amount to unlock a certain number of modules.
Where I live, $1466 (NZD) is a lot money.
The course is completely worth it for sure.
A payment plan could mean I could start reading some of the modules instead of waiting for 8 months to save the money for one-off payment.

I want to do a pole barn home build with styroaircrete and I was sure it could work but I'm glad to know you are going to film that so I can get a idea on how to do it. Also I went to school to learn how to build log cabins and the taught us a super efficient way to build roofs but I'm not 100% sure how to incorporate it into the build but I have an idea and I'd love to talk to someone about it to see if I'm on the right track.

Just to offer idea, that might strengthen your product.
What if the styrofoam BB's was given a bath of some sort of liquid adhesive.
Drained tumbled in something like sand screened laid out to dry then be used with your presence. Incasing to strengthen binded before with a friend of concrete. Maybe it will make it stronger have not seen it tryed, I can't wait to see this product be as good as it should be
The cement works as a binder extremely well! We experimented with other adhesives and they did not improve the final product

The spreadsheet is a template that you can edit to fit your project! The 384 sq ft barrel vault comes out to $8,700 and the tools range from $1-2.5K depending on what you have already and your willingness to make our DIY tools! The Abundacrete part of the build is only around $2K, it's the appliances and finishes that increased the price so the template is flexible!

I just need to make sure they would be okay with using aircrete/styrocrete as insulation before starting. This idea looks like it will save a considerable amount of money over Rockwool insulation, especially when pairing this with a stucco exterior instead of Masonite siding.

@@swinkeymo probably not for straight Abundacrete. On the slabs we recommend pouring a couple inches of standard cement on top then you should be able to stamp that!

You could do that but the Styrofoam makes for good insulation. With shredded PET fibers it would be very strong but not as insulated. If the weather permits you can try it!

@@MA-rq6ye it is hard to say because we have not tested the PET fibers, but it's reasonable to think that a similar ratio would work sense we got the cement binder ratio

No, we are focused on reducing the equipment cost and energy demand so don't want to depend on constant air pressure. But it would probably work together!
@@AbundanceBuild This video has my brain in like five different directions now that you taken aircrete foam out of the equation. Mixed with a couple other videos near the subject with hemp as a structural binder for strength.
@@AbundanceBuild Also like the Binishell process the inflatable bladder would be reusableand foldable, and once pressurized wouldn't need much more than what a hand pump couldn't do to keep form.
Imagine same site making a complex of small shelters, connected or not.
