      Not to come at you, but if tracing is involved in your paintings then it’s not authentic portrait work. Capturing someone in the sketch is the hard part. I don’t know any illustrators or artists that openly trace, especially a portrait!

    I like the additional suggestion of wiping down the charcoal rubbing to rid it of "dust" and using a sharpened pencil rather than a red pen. Thanks!

    Of course the optimum would be to not be tied to reference pictures at all and draw purely from live and imagination. But mastering that takes like a decade of daily exersices and training.

    Love all your videos! I’m curious, what did you do to the photo that you transfer? Is it a Photoshop filter?

    • @MazArtStudio
      @MazArtStudio  Před 3 lety +3

      its a photo app - turn any photo into a pencil outline there are lots to choose from I use one specifically for a mac book called Photosketcher it was a tiny fee but I have had it years.

    • @MazArtStudio
      @MazArtStudio  Před 3 lety +2

      not in my opinion it doesn't. As a teacher I can assure you even with the image traced out it can still go wrong - I like to simplify things. By all means lean to draw but even if you can't or dont want to learn then dont let it put you off learning to paint or enjoying painting.
