I went to high school with Lee. She is such a sweet girl, she would bring me bubble gum and bring me up when I was sad. It brings me joy to see how far she's come with her passion :)
Endlich auch in Deutschland/ Bayern ein Special Olympics..... Mit Sport akzeptiert werden. Bewegung hilft viel. Trainerin Inge Schnitt SVFortuna Turnabteilung Regensburg
Very uplifting segment. Im curious how the girl at 2:12 is eligible for the Special Olympics. She doesn't seem disabled, although, I know a lot of disabilities aren't as visible.
L Vega Exactly. She most likely has a disability that you cannot physically see. Even if you could "see" it, it would just be the very tip of the iceberg, so to speak.
She might be into the autism spectrum or having an autoimmune disease. Are not really visible and they qualify someone with said conditions for special olympics. I learnt that too late unfortunately!
* Note: I know that the original comment is three years old, but I see no reason why I shouldn't reply to it. 😊 * With all due respect, you're wrong: gymnastics *is* for everyone. Just because you're accustomed to watching elite gymnastics on television doesn't mean that people who perform at a different level should abandon the sport they love. It breaks my heart that you watched this video, saw the joy on those young ladies' faces...and your takeaway was the harsh opposite of what the Special Olympics is about: inclusivity, respect and supporting those who shouldn't be written off because they don't fit a specific mold. 😥 Why exactly *shouldn't* these young ladies practice gymnastics at the right level for them? Should you abandon a beloved activity because some folks are better at it? I applaud these gymnasts. 💗😊
The greatest part of this experience is sabotaging it, because the Special Olympics is a golden opportunity intentionally not winning, that is what I respect about it! I want to join the Special Olympics so I can make absolutely certain that I never win, because it is a horrible thing to be involved with!.

Yeah, it's not for you if you don't train it. They do.
