  • In this video I explain some aspects of German grammar that might make you think that it is a hard language. Do you agree? Is there anything I forgot to mention in this video? Write them in the comment section below!

    My name is Yohanes, and I am a language enthusiast. My mother tongue is Indonesian, and I speak the following languages (with a decreasing order of fluency): English, French, German, Spanish. I also learn(ed) Korean, Chinese, and Finnish, but I wouldn't say that I "speak" the language (yet) :)

    Sehr gute Zusammenfassung der Punkte. Ich habe auch mal sowas gemacht, aber mit den Punkten, die Deutsch leicht machen und mit denen die es schwer machen. Bei mir hatte ich noch die Deklination der Adjektive erwähnt und die reflexiven Verben. Schau ruhig mal rein.

    You failed to mention: when verbs go all the way to the end of the sentence (which is quite common).
    In my opinion, it belongs in the top three in terms of how unintuitive and difficulty.

      You're right. I hesitated putting that in the video because it seems like it was too long already. I plan to cover that topic in another video :)

      For an English speaker, yes. The vocabulary is pretty different, the grammar is also completely different.

    Ich gebe die mal was zum Nachdenken
    Das Hochdeutsch was wir sprechen und das was wir Schreiben
    sind zwei unterschiedliche Dialekte
    Hochdeutsch gesprochen ist Nordhochdeutsche Bühnensprache.
    Das was wir schreiben ist Mittelhochdeutsch.

    Arabic and Bangali language are very simple to learn same as English.

      @Parlertoutseul  Před 16 dny +1

      I don't know about Bangali, but Arabic is usually in category 5 in difficulty, which means it is pretty difficult for English speakers. I have never learned Arabic myself, so I can't really tell from experience. I guess it would be fun to learn Arabic! Maybe someday :)

    Why does English always sound so aggressive?
    Quite often not even all of us Germans get German grammar and spelling right. And that's only speaking of "standard German", don't get me started with the circa 100 dialects.
