I sold all my silver 400 ozs a couple of weeks ago, why? I started to realize that buying an oz with such a high premium and the buy back below spot that it would take a very long time to even out the dollar you just spent to make it to par. I had the opportunity to sell mine for a $1 /oz over what I put in. Also just the logistics of carrying 100ozs of silver at a time to sell was ridiculous, keep in mind, I buy a lot of gold and this is what works for me, $100 over spot, sell it back for about spot, also, my wife and I didn’t need the money from the silver and I plan on recycling most of it back to gold when the price comes down like a predicted a month or two ago on one of BGM’s videos. That 400 oz’s wasn’t going to make me rich but I see the value for some people to stack it, invest in it, etc. I have a large spectrum of cash investment products spread around and the gold I have is for me and my wife when we are retired, gold is my tax free supplemental gravy.

Think roof repair, extensive dentistry, an illness not covered by insurance, etc. In these cases, it is the USE of gold and silver that can be of help
to those who have them. One can usually repurchase their stack once things have been straightened out, sometimes at cheaper prices, so it's
not the end of stacking to sell some PMs on occasion. Fortunately, I've never had to do that but I definitely understand why some would do it
when they really need to do it.

The few cases for it include the purchase of a modest home and investing in your education to increase your earnings. In these cases, debt that
can be managed is reasonable. For the other vast majority of reasons for going into debt, they can't when one is rational about it. I can't even
remember the last time I didn't pay my CC bill for that month in full and on time. At a guess, maybe 40 or so years ago? Doing this can get to be
a habit but so can NOT doing it. Agree that all too many people spend money that they do not have on a regular basis. One can do this for a very

While that could happen again, the odds look long to me. I'm not selling silver because I don't need any additional cash ATM. If I did need some cash, I would
be selling just enough to meet whatever needs I had at the time. PMs are money and money is meant to be invested and / or spent. I'd get more interested
in trading silver for gold at around 40:1 but would not do this with all my silver. No, I'd trade it in increments of 10% or so once the GSR hits 40:1 and would
follow it as the GSR drops. I would keep doing that until I either traded 2/3 of my silver stack *OR* until the GSR started rising to and above 40:1. No one
can buy an asset at the very bottom or sell it at the very top. But we can hedge our bets via selling like we buy - in increments.

"Anybody can get into a position, but knowing when to get out of a position is wildly important."
Yes, it is and it is interesting to me that so many stackers have the "never sell" mentality. PMs are an asset and any asset only improves our lives if we actually USE them.
I learned this lesson a long time ago when I bought some shares in a computer company for $5 each. It did nothing for a while and then went parabolic. I was tempted
to sell at $100 a share but held the stock. It then went to $150 a share and I HAD to sell it, so I did. Friends of mine said that it was "going to the moon!". It did go higher,
up to $230 or so a share before it crashed back to $5 once again. I made a good amount of money on that investment while my friends took an exciting ride that ended
with them right back where they started. I'm trying to recall the name of that company. I think that it was Sun Microsystems but am not sure. Now, I am not saying that
stocks and PMs are the same but they ARE assets and as such can be used to improve our lives or they can just lay there and not do much. Even when they do a lot,
they still need our help to figure out when selling is appropriate. Having a blanket never-sell attitude is not particularly helpful in such things.

    • @edb3877

Agreed. The interesting part of this is that gold and silver are likely to rise in value by several fold, making that $100 steak worth about 1/2 an oz. of silver and that $50 bread to
be about 1/4 oz. an oz. of silver. Actually, I'm thinking that bread and gasoline will both be worth about the same as a silver dime. A good steak will be worth more than bread
or gasoline but probably not 25-100x more. Just bought gas today. It was $4.09 for unleaded regular. Yes, a silver quarter is worth more than this.

Debt has been increasing for years, silver supply has been increasing, interest rates have lowered before, none of these directly affect silver. As an investor, i think, the silver market is 100 % fixed. There is no transparent rhyme or reason. If you have gold or silver, hold it for an emergency. Real estate is probably the best indicator. I think, if people are not able to buy homes, they will look for a safe asset to park their money. Banks 100% manage the price of metals. There is zero certainty in owning metals for profit. There is 99.999 % certainty in owing precious metals for safety.

Fine update. I did buy gold last week and thought I should wait till later next week to purchase more silver. I have absolutely no interest in selling my silver OR gold. I just tell myself, metals are insurance, period. One should only buy metals with currency they don't need for any other daily purpose. Four consecutive years in the declines in silver production ought to wake up some, and the U.S. DEBT will NEVER EVER be reduced. Fractional Reserve Banking can't allow it. Keep up the good fight!

Hi Bald Guy, question for you.
My family’s financial advisor thinks that the Fed will lower interest rates before raising them, possibly this year. I understand the US debt problem, but inflation is still rampant (much higher than the 2% target) and the market is at all-time highs. Usually there is pain before lowering of interest rates. Would you expect the bigger trend of the Fed to lower rates or continue raising them in the current economic and market conditions?

If so, 100, as a rounded number, should be possible? I think most of the traders will base their tgt price based on technical analysis. Am I wrong??

You continue to make accurate predictions which is incredible given how many variables there are in the precious metals market. In terms of selling, what if the recent rally has brought your precious metals assets higher as a percentage of total assets? What if you started out with a 30% allocation to metals and now it's 50%? Perhaps makes sense to jettison some if you don't want that much of a commitment and maybe sleep better at night. Most silver comes from mines where silver is a secondary mineral, 2 mines in Australia that I know are in care and maintenance as their main mineral is down % like lead. 1 mine spent $300m 2-4 years ago to build a new mine and has shut down, that mill now would cost $400m+ to build now. Deposit that have say 300m ounces of silver but have a average crush rate of only 5 to 10 ounces would be lucky to stay open on $30 per ounce. There is gold mines here as well that have low deposits as well where mills are sitting idle as $3700 aud is still not enough after cost to restart a mine.
