      aznbro830 I know the requirements like number of push-ups and pull-ups you need, but what sort of exercises and drills so to speak do you do in pre para, I'm going next year and I'd like to know so I can kinda get a head start
      To get my wings is my #1 dream

    I did my para course this summer and i can tell you its the same course as the reg force, all the pi's and jumpmaster can agree on this. We sure dont learn any combat training but if people join the jump company's they will learn it anyway the para course is not based on combat training.
    Ex coelis!

    You can’t be an Air Cadet to attend the Basic Parachutist course, you need to transfer over to Army Cadets and even then you still need to complete and pass the National Star Examination ( or National Star of Excellence, NSE) which by the way, is not available to Air Cadets. Also, there was actually an Air Cadet who earned his Parachutist Wings by transferring to Army Cadets to complete the course although that was quite a long time ago I think.

  • @tasharules
    @tasharules Před 16 lety

    FYI Army Cadets do the same basic training as the CF for their parawings it's the only course that does that which means yeah you have to be tougher then hell to get into it for one you have to be a senior, Gold Fitness minimum of level 8 shuttle run, 44 pushups, 32 situps, and 185cm in standing long jumps, and to top that off you must have your NSC. they go through a tough process to get there.

  • @chrisho5177

  • @G22RCHA
    @G22RCHA Před 15 lety

    Many cadets end up in the reg force, especially getting courses like jump qual. I wore the white leaf, and welcome any cadet who can do the training to wear those wings! And where do you think many of the next wave of dedicated soldiers come from?, many come from the cadet ranks!.

  • @tasharules
    @tasharules Před 16 lety

    hey if you where to get your wings in the actual army it'd take longer so it's a good thing to get your wings at 15 considering you can only join reserves at 16 and CF at 17

  • @tasharules
    @tasharules Před 13 lety

    @G22RCHA Spot on, I recently enrolled in the CF Primary Reserves, I want to transfer out to the reg force in the future after schooling. I was an army cadet for 3 years and learned and loved it. I left cadets early but not before I hit the rank of CWO! The most difficult thing for cadets to overcome when they join the forces is being back down at the bottom and relearning certain things.

  • @iamawesome3643
    @iamawesome3643 Před 12 lety

    All I got to do is get a gold or excellence fitness badge then I'm basicly a shoe in for Pre-para then I have a friend who took the course but twisted his ankle during a run so he had to leave but I know the requirements so since I'm young I can qualify for the fitness easy enough then when I'm 15 I'll start practice everything needed to pass Pre para then i'll probably be accepted for basic parachutist then it's just three weeks of sweating blood and puking guts then I learn all about jumping

    Make sure that you have a high standard of dress, Drill, and deportment, you must be recommended by your corps CO. Also train hard 10 week before the Para section coarse which comes around in March. so ensure you make one of the top 5 out of the 10 to 20 other cadets that will be there to compete against you. Myself I was in 7Th place for Alberta last year and seeing as how I have one more year left I'm gonna go hard next year and make one of the 5.
    Kind regards

    J stage. You will do moring pt everyday for precourse and ground school. As well if you fuck up or your groupd is unmotivated at CFLAWC be prepared to be on your face:)

    That's pretty good for the run and the sit ups. However I would highly recommend that you do at least 25 full chin ups. The push ups are not something we do during the para selection coarse. Me myself I ran the mile in 5:23, I did 22 full chin ups, and you have to as many sit ups as you can in 2 mins (I did 62).
