So glad I found this video, your tutorial is informative and seems really easy to follow. You’re the only person that has mentioned being able to still use the front buttons after mapping the back buttons, which if you couldn’t would have been a deal breaker for me. Definitely gonna pick up this kit now 🙏🏻
Thanks Daniel! Glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! It is a great kit, I put it on two controllers
and I love it!
I'm considering this for one of my controllers, but I've got the *BigBig Won Armor-X* that can be swapped easily.
I dunno, I think I just want the project because they're fun.
Another tip if all the lights don't show up on the tester is too push the two PCBs together a little and sandwich them....I thought I messed up my solder job even though they were all decent...I pushed em down a bit like when it's screwed and boom they all lit up...
Awesome video well informed. thanks keep it up!!!
Thank you Gary!! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!!
Thank you sir
Great job 👏
Thank you! 😃
Damn your solder points are 🔥🔥. That shit takes skill. I got mine done but it doesn’t look nearly as good as those 🤙🏿
Thank you Chief!! I am definitely not the best at soldering, but the flux and a very
fine solder tip helped me a lot lol!
Were can i get a solder tool
My board doesn't light up at all but controller works
Hi mate :) just wondering what size soldering tip you used in the video ?
Hi Paul! Man I wish I knew the size, I just have a cheepo amazon kit and it came with multiple tips and the one I use is one of the finer ones.
Does the back panel have the matte finish of the stock Xbox controller or does it have that soft touch finish most after market shells have?
Great question Jakal! It is more of a soft touch back, I would say it isn't as soft as the
soft touch face plates from extremerate.
Nice video :) are you able to remove to motors to make the controller lighter ?
Thank you Paul! Absolutely, I believe it is only three wires coming off of each rumble motors that need to be de-soldered then they should come out pretty easily.
The kit has just arrived I have a soldering iron but the tip seems a lot thicker than yours, I’ve practiced soldering and I can get neat fairly big blobs, but it’s impossible to get them small and neat what diameter/size tip do I need to get the small blobs like yours ? Thanks 😊
do you need to resolder the rumbles? will the controller operate without them?
Hey GRAPH1X ! For sure, you do not have to resolder the
rumbles. Everything else should be operational.
I installed this kit and tried to test it but it flashed once ( the controller ) and hasn’t turned on since. NEED HELP!
Hey George! I would check and see if you have everything reconnected.
This happened to me and I think it was The wires in the center with the
circular connecters, I left them dethatched. Also make sure the ribbon
cables are seated all the way and flush.
@@JakeVirdenTech thanks for the help but I definitely connected them, I think I read they’re fragile somewhere I’m a bit clumsy so I might have damaged them. Regardless I left it into a very good repair shop so they should sort it out.
@@gdawgwa7493 Gotcha man, yea it happens to everyone with how delicate the components are inside. That's good, I am sure they will get you squared up.
Is controller working wireless after installing this modification or I need to use USB cable forever now?
Yep the controller still works wirelessly!
Great video! How does the controller feel? Is it better now? I'm thinking of buying this kit but I've never soldered anything before, is it worth it?
Thank you! It is the first controller I have had with rear buttons/ paddles and it feels great.
I would say it is worth the money, it is a great kit and a fun project if you like to tinker with electronics!
It might be a little tricky for someone new to soldering just because the solder points are so small,
but you can definitely do it! I would recommend using a very fine soldering tip and a bit of flux makes
it much easier.
@@JakeVirdenTech Thank u so much!!
No way this thing remembers a combo?
Just a fair warning, if your not good at soldering, do not get this kit.
I do agree, not the easiest mod when it comes to soldering.
I kept having issues with mine. First one had a striped screw where the k1 k2 screwed in. Second one I was like ef this and happened to find a turtle beach controller with paddles at target on sale for $17. Took all that stuff back.
