Excited to try this, can I ask why you need 3 sticks for the 2nd style?!
I am a year late, but I think they use 3 sticks because it adds thickness to a cheap item, and this technique is technically supposed to be done around a thick stick or dowel.

Hii which dye have u used
They used an indigo dyeing kit! It makes natural dying easier, people do this with real indigo dye!!
it looks like synthetic dye because natural indigo takes several dips before it becomes that dark

When you rinse the excess dye out of the fabric, it will set the color and prevent it from bleeding later on.

After the tying of knots.
Gathered it by pulling the thread. That’s why knots were tied on one side so thread could be pulled
