Wheel of Life The Six Realms of Samsara

This is a continuation of a teaching on the painting titled the Wheel of Life. This talk explains the 6 possible births one can take in cyclic existence, the causes for birth there and the experience beings have in each realm.

The hungry ghost realm always reminded me of addiction. Always worrying about what you need. Even when you have it you worry about tomorrow. It's never really enough. Any satisfaction disappears...

I am confused, do the six realms actually exist, or they are just six psychological states of human beings?

Sorry for the delayed reply. They are as real to beings in them as the human realm is to humans. By looking at them as psychological states, we can begin to understand the experience of each realm better.

Both. In Buddhist cosmology Our consciousness is interpenetrating these realms while we’re incarnated which is why the Human birth is the most favorable as well as the most precarious. These states also map to the chakra system in the east. We are the axis mundi where above and below meet.

How are they gods if they are jealous... they're just other beings in other realms in my opinion...

This is intense, constant jealously combined with being more powerful than humans. Humans have a combination of all the conflicting emotion and can change from arrogance to jealously to hungry ghost in an instant.
