Chris is amazing and such a naturally humble and reserved guy. The suspension of disbelief he manages to create when I watch his stuff is quite unique. I can almost understand how how stupid people struggle to comprehend We Can Be Heroes isn't actually real lol. That was a great series I watched over and over on Netflix
"The supporting cast didn't even see the script" so that's how he got their reactions to be so realistic! I thought he just hired extremely talented actors.
That was interesting to hear that the people in "We Can Be Heroes" didn't know the script of the final scene and just responded to him. Excellent interview. Thanks for sharing this.

In the scenes with Mr G when he does GOOFY stuff with masks and improv....NONE of that was scripted. Episode one of "Summer Heights High" The kids were told they must NOT laugh or even SMILE. It was impossible for some of the kids, and the producers had to replace them. Even so, look closely at the far side of the circle of kids. One boy and one girl just BROKE, and would have to look down and COVER their faces a few times when they just could not keep a straight face. The brilliance of the scene was directing the kids to keep a complete dead pan expression. Great mini series!! All of them. I started with Angry Boys, BTW. I would have been one of the people the producers would have ejected. NO WAY could I have kept a straight face. I read it was extremely hard for the kids. When the director would call "cut", the whole room would explode in laughter.
I am from the US. I know MOST of his work and LOVE IT! I get it. I get HIM. I researched every Ozzie word, slang and culture cues that I could to fully grasp every nuance of his satire in his works. I spent HOURS of research over the course of his mini series. I even did geographical research as well as the usual cultural stuff. I know BOGAN now and RANDOM...LOL. I know HEADLAND, and... ....sooo many other words in Oz that we in the USA have NO idea what they are. Well, I do! Any tiny little word or term I didn't know, I would stop the video and do research online. It was fun learning a whole new culture. Cultures really. I don't believe I missed much. My research turned up treasure troves of information that made a this Yank's viewing a much richer experience. We have no real equivalent entertainer here in "Merica where we are supposed to be GUARANTEED free speech. Well, not in reality. Netflix pretty much hammer-banned all Chris's content... because,,,,WOKE. and hurt FEELINGS.....Puke!
Impressed that you got into this so much. We live our lives immersed in American culture. We're experts on your culture but most of you know very little about us.
@@ivanleg Most of my peers dont CARE about learning about other cultures. I immerse myself. For instance, Thailand. What a mysterious exotic place. most look at it as a cheap fuck fest. Well, there is THAT. But, soo much more. THOUSANDS of years of culture. I try to learn SOME language and as much of the common slang of every country I visit. I have been to Thailand many times. I could spend a lifetime there delving in to that lotus flower.

Our comedy on the most part can get pretty lame... I love waay more british and aussie shows than american shows...But yeah South Park and even Family Guy or Always Sunny got craftier as they went along. Depends on the person
