    Buffalo has had pressing needs as to winning draws and having a more physical presence out there, and that’s been addressed w/o spending a fortune or giving up anything more than a 9th overall pick who’s smallish and already has had a serious injury. So I’m very much on board w/ what’s taken place. 👍

      Not to mention that Savoie was made expendable when they drafted Benson. Since being drafted, Savoie has already dropped down the Sabres depth chart with Benson and the development of other high picks in Rochester and in Europe.

      @@grantlenson8535 mmm 🤔 I beg to differ.. you do realize there are other teams that have made improvements to that were already better than the Sabres right.. I think the Devils fer sure gets a spot and the Red Wings will probably get the other spot.. the two teams I think won't make it from this past playoffs are the Islanders and the Capitals.. the Caps I think are really lucky in making the playoffs last season by riding a hot goalie for the last couple weeks.. they were by far the worst playoff team of all 16 teams... They just look like they didn't belong in the playoffs..

    The problem is all of the major Sabres players had huge regressions. How do you convince players to do what they need to do in the offseason to prevent that again? No sugar coating last season. It was a disaster.

      Granato was a soft coach! Practices were not quick or strenuous! Mittelstadt when He joined the Avalanche was surprised how fast and exhausting the practices were with the Avalanche. Granato didn't hold the players accountable! The old saying is true, "Nice guys finish last!"

    People can rag on the Sabres but they are very clearly being intentional with how they’re building this roster based on who they’re bringing in and shipping out. Like he said, they have all the pieces it’s just whether they can put it together and win games. We’ll see if Lindy Ruff makes a big enough impact!

    Savoie fell to at least fourth on the Sabres’ prospect rankings. He might be more flashy to the Twitter GMs than NHL GMs. Undersized, injury history, has proven nothing in the NHL. Sabres were shopping him - this wasn’t EDM upping the asking price. Sabres finally have a prototype & plan. They have to play Moneyball a bit due to top guys not wanting to come here.

      Too many acting like the Oilers sent two nobodies for Bedard 2.0, and not a special-skills speed demon for an unproven, under-sized kid who won’t be an Oiler until late-Spring at the earliest.
      Too many of us have been waiting years for prospects like Savoie to develop, and then Benson comes along and blows Savoie right out the water…sayonara, kid.

    • @USEDQTIP
      @USEDQTIP Před 20 dny

      It doesn't matter if Savoie is a bust. The trade was still bad because he could've been traded for a better player than Mcleod. Oil fans would've been happy with a 2nd round or late 1st for Mcleod.

    • @USEDQTIP
      @USEDQTIP Před 20 dny

      As soon as he was traded Buffalo fans claimed Savoie was a bust, turning on him over night. Truth is Mcleod was the Oilers 4c, his 11 points in 10 games playing on Drai's wing fooled you guys into thinking he's a 3C. @corerl26

    Lots of doom and gloom in Sabreland. I kind of like what they did this offseason. Their bottom six is faster, much better defensively, they hit & physically engage, have high-effort and have a touch of scoring (esp. Zucker). Skinner scores but was a detriment when he is not scoring. If UPL continues to play like he did from Jan. on, then they are fine in goal. They need another top 6 forward (preferably LW) and they can make some noise. And let's not discount that they actually have a solid legit coach in Ruff. I liked Donny as a person but he's more of an Ass't Coach type guy - he's a soft "developmental guy" who misplaced/misused players in the lineup all year. Remember, Buffalo was 1 pt behind Florida for the last playoff spot 2 years ago; the mistake they made was not adding that offseason (they counted on continued "development") - and then they regressed.

    McLeod is a good acquisition for the Sabres, but they gave too much in return. Sabres should have at least got another NHLer on top of McLeod.
