Queenstown is our favourite place in New Zealand, and after seeing this vlog and the other travel episodes to come (3 more still in this mini-series) you'll see why! Since returning to NZ we've been hunting out a lot more of the best hiking trails and walks around the country, but despite that we STILL hadn't ticked off the best walks in Queenstown. This trip we wanted to change that, so we made a list of some of the best walks and hikes and picked one of each... one tougher, one cruisier.
The Queenstown hill walk is a bit of a beast, there's mixed reviews online about the state of the walking track and elevation but it's unanimously known as one of the best hikes in the area. It's a good few hours of what feels like straight up elevation as you hike up through the trees, before reaching what we pretty quickly called the best views in Queenstown. It's starting point is a few mins up the back of town by car, or a walk up through the neighbourhoods to get there - but you're probably best saving your legs for the climb to come! Classify this one as a legit hike.
For a more chill walk, it's only a 20-minute flat stroll to reach the jetty at Bobs Cove, but you get access to the water within about 10 mins. You do need to drive 15ish mins out from Queenstown to reach Bobs Cove, then you have a collection of different walks and loops you can do. Not really hikes as such given how chill they are, at least thats how we think about it.
Gotta love how there is so much beauty to see in Queenstown, and all of those for free!

Well done guys. A good reminder Queenstown can be as expensive or as cheap as you want. It doesn't deserve the knocks it gets. I love the walks there and on my last visit I got a private room at a backpackers for $65 a night.

Such a great video. Paid-for excursions can be great, but if the scenery is stunning, you can't beat a freebie hike! 🙌 I especially loved how the first hike combined history with the information boards. The land looked so dry and yellow, were you guys there at the height of summer? That jetty at the end is like the epitome of what you hope to see when looking for a perfect travel photo spot!
Queenstown can be pricey, so it was awesome to find some freebies with a view for sure. This was in April, so just before the rain/winter weather rolls in and changes colours of the nature a bit

Looking at coming over in the start of october, just wondering if you guys have been in the south at that time.looking to go to queenstown for a few , then wanaka and on to franz joseph ...milford sound will be in there too at some stage when at queenstown, not sure how the roads are at that stage, but im guessing there shouldnt be any snow on them then, if its anything like Aus..cheers guys keep making awesome vids
That's probably quite a good time to go, still a little cold and there will be snow about but won't be too crazy weather wise!

Have visited Queenstown twice (from Sydney) and did Queenstown Hill as well as Routeburn (which was a challenge). Will definitely be back to do more around Glenorchy, such beautiful scenery everywhere surrounding Queenstown. Love watching your videos.
Glenorchy is STUNNING! We didn't get long to explore there but there must be some incredible walks around there. Routeburn is on our list, did you like it?
@@DanegerAndStacey Routeburn was amazing. We went with a guide which helped when we wanted some local knowledge (we’re from Sydney, Australia). Also they provided our lunch which was pretty much all we had to carry. Hope you get to do it sometime soon.
Nice trip! Living in Texas, the views you two enjoy are absolutely beautiful! In my childhood home we had a fireplace made out of Indiana limestone, so pretty. I'm originally from Indiana, which we are referred to as Hoosiers. Best of luck to you both, love your videos!
