I recreated shots from my favourite film

- I want to get better at filmmaking. SO I set myself a challenge to recreate shots from one of my favourite films, Into the Wild, using a little tool called Shotdeck. After picking my favourite shots, we took our little yellow van out for a day trip in the Peak District. I tried to use what was around me to recreate composition and framing, as well as putting my own spin on some of these iconic shots.
Really hope you enjoy and let me know if you want me to try this again in the future with different films! This was a great challenge to improve how I view composition, lighting and colour grading in post-production.

Great idea, something I thought to practice after watching a lot of fantasy and cinematic shows. Learn more how story and composition works together 😁 enjoyed this!
Ah definitely give it a go man! Yeah story is key...still learning so much! Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@janouxgerber It really is 🥰 I’ve just come back to the midlands from a couple of days in my T5 down in Bournemouth/Boscombe-Stunning! 🙏🏻 There’s nothing like exploring our beautiful country-especially when the weather is good 🤗
Love the video idea. Been a dream of mine to film a video of visiting that bus in Alaska. Hopefully one day it will happen.
Ohhh it is my absolute dream too!! Would love to get out to Alaska one day!
Well done 🎉.
Thanks for watching!!
Great job dude!
Thanks so much!!
This video is awesome. Well done. I would have put them in that order too. I want to do some videography myself and this has given me some inspiration to recreate shots from films I like 😊 I’m a new sub now 🎉
Ah thank you so much for watching and commenting! Absolutely you should definitely do some videography!! Go check out Christian Schaffer if you want some more van life, filmmaking inspiration! Thanks for subscribing! :)
Love your videos, you are doing great buddy!
Thanks so much Cody!!
Love this man!
Thanks Dwayne!!
Great video man. Just subscribed. Love this film too. Also, your mic on Act 2 has a lot more quality than the one you used indoors during Act 1. Maybe you could use the same good mic next time to record indoors :) Your channel inspired me to get back to making my own videos. Haven't touched or explored this area for 4 years but I guess it's never late. Looking forward to your next videos.
Thanks so much man! That's awesome to hear you're getting back into it! Also hilariously Act 2 was filmed with the on camera microphone and Act 1 was with a shotgun mic on the camera...think the echo in the room made it sound less than ideal! Appreciate the feedback :) Will keep an ear out for that in the future!
this is super cool
Thanks so much man! Appreciate the comment!
Great video!
Thanks so much Tom! Appreciate the comment!
nice idea
Cheers Matt! Thanks for watching! :)
Loved this idea man! New sub 🤝
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the comment!
💣💣
Had a peep at your instagram and your stuff is so sick man! Fire up that youtube channel!
Man, you look like Nickolas Cage, btw I'd like to try this exercise too! So maybe I'll steal your idea so I finally start to shoot, cheers!
I'll take it! Mr Cage is a legend! haha Maybe i'll recreate shots from Chasing Arizona one day ;) And of course - would love to see others do this kind of thing!
You remind me of Nicolas Cage
I see the cage resemblance- Reminds me of the dude from children of men
ahahah maybe I'll recreate scenes from him next!
One day I'll have a go at recreating some scenes from Children of Men... haha
