    My dual motor version gets (now in the winter) a bit more than 300km of range, doing mostly "aggressive" city driving. Though i did a highway trip a couple of weeks ago and this got better mileage (30% battery used for 150km).
    Turns out when you get "overpowered" EV cars, stop and go city driving can be less efficient than high speed highway driving.
    I've yet to charge it outside of the homecharger so can't comment on fast charging, usually charges it once a week overnight with a 7KW charger that takes about 8 hours for charging 60KWh which fits nicely in the low electricity charge time slot.

      I sold a great Geely Geometric in favor of a ZEEKR X. Do you think the car has a good noise isolation at speeds of 100-120 km/h. Which model do you have single or dual engine. Thanks

    • @jwickerszh

      @@leviyaakubov1875 I have the dual motor, though it's probably not necessary and you should consider the single motor one if you care about range.
      Noise insulation is good and I did not have to complain about it, even on highway. It is better than my older car (BMW 328GT).

  • @benjaminsmith2287

    It's really Chinese/Swedish. It's designed in Sweden by a team of Europeans and people don't realize that the SEA platform from Geely was chief engineered by a Swedish ex-Saab engineer. A fair amount of Lynk and Co. and Zeekr work is done in Sweden. Yes, it's in the Geely Group and designed for the Chinese market. But it is also more Euro and international-centric in its approach.
    The platform is flexible so whatever is going with Smart or Volvo may yield similar numbers, but those cars may drive and feel quite different from the Zeekr. Sometimes same platform cars feel similar, sometimes they don't. Zeekr seems to be "softer" in its approach than certainly Volvo and Smart looks like it takes a Mercedes approach except for the interface.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  Před 6 měsíci +3

      Indeed. I've sat and interviewed Kent Bovellan about this platform and it's quite amazing. The metrics are much better than pretty much every other car they tested against. It's an impressive bit of work.
      If argue this car is actually designed for Europe with Chinese characteristics as cars of this size don't do too well in China, whereas Europe will lap up the smart, Volvo and Zeekr compact models as they're much more suited to our roads and personal mobility preferences.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@InsideChinaAuto Excellent. Yes, it's an excellent and flexible platform and that's why Mercedes, Renault and use it. Geely has done well with identifying and hiring some Swedish and Euro engineers/designers as well as setting up a few operations in Sweden to establish a bit of a foothold there. My opinion is the CEVT brands like Zeekr and Lynk and Co. allow Geely to customize and blend Swedish and Chinese engineering/design together where Volvo and Polestar can have more of a measure of autonomy in their designs and content. Then there's the English side, London Taxi and Lotus that can be developed/expanded and maybe new brands that can come from that relationship. Geely Holding is a powerhouse.

    Coming to Europe very soon but unaware if the various series will be all available. Clearly this car shows a very luxurious detailed design inside as outside. It will a tough competition to the very few European brands that will offer similar environments. Think it will be on the premium models at a much higher cost. The only issue with the suspension is with vertical movements, I've never had it feel leaning side to side but if you ever drive over a section of road sharply going up and then down (like some small bridges) it feels more squishy than other cars I drove. It feels like the car is going down further than it needs to and bounce back up a bit more as well, although it does not keep bouncing after that.

    I'll add a few things that annoy me for now:
    - the indicator sound is a bit too loud and high pitched I miss the subtle ticking of the BMW... Also it plays over the speakers (which should make it easy to change) but sometimes miss a beat randomly (if other notifications are playing)
    - the 360 view popping up when indicating is great when parking but the 3d view is useless as 8t doesn't even show you your blind spot angle (have top tap the screen to show the rear quarter view instead of the front quarter which I can already perfectly see from the driver seat, thanks) ... They should add an option to change the default angle ... And rear tinted windows by default means good luck spotting incoming ebikes ... Also I'd like an option to turn those aids popping up when the screen is over to the passenger side
    - could use an extra cup holder, right now you can only secure one cup. You can unfold it but the bottom won't hold a cup properly
    - the phone as wireless key 8s great, everytime I walk the dog the car unlocks when I pass by it ... And everytime I walk to the car with the intention of driving it doesn't 😅 I swear she does that on purpose... (No issues with the actual key fob though, it's a phone thing)
    - the car turns off when you leave someone in without the key (phone), sometimes it does that when you go out and get back in the passenger side (though it wakes up by using the gear selector)

      Hey John. Thanks for watching. About Zeekr, I do hope they get to Oz too. If they get to the UK at some point, I can't see why not Oz too.
      As for the cameras, they're nearly all not speed cameras. They're mostly monitoring cameras, checking plates, so if you do bad and there's a plate they can track, they can see where you went, and also monitoring for things like going straight on in a left turn lane, things like that. Speed cameras are not that prominent, and as in many countries some provinces have more than others, like Zhejiang for example. I don't think they're so strictly policed to be honest judging by how some people drive through them, and finest are not huge unless you really take the p!ss. More than 50% over is a lifetime ban I heard someone say but I'm not 100% certain. 30 and 40 is really only for small urban roads where honestly there are a LOT of road users, people and bikes and so on, so they make sense, but mostly in cities you'll find 50 or 60, sometimes 80 depending on the road so it's not bad. I make this part of my livelihood from driving so I don't push it and I've cooled off in later life too.

      @@InsideChinaAuto I don't know if it is "afraid to" or just posturing. If US cars are sold in China, then it seems fair that Chinese cars can be sold in the USA. But I don't define Chinese cars the way others do. I think home-grown Chinese cars are Chinese (though often enough with Euro or other collaborations). I don't consider Volvo or Polestar Chinese at all. I consider them Swedish and Lotus British, hence, they are sold in the USA and at least Volvo and Lotus have been for some time. Polestar is just an offshoot of Volvo, their sports division. But BYD, XPeng, Nio, home-grown brands like that, aren't in the USA. Yet BYD buses are. Zeekr would have to be a new brand in the USA and I would emphasize the Swedish part of it more than anything else. Like, it's a part of Saab reborn (marketing) were it ever to enter the USA. But if I were Volvo or Polestar or Lotus, I'm not sure I'd want a fellow Geely Group car competing with my offerings. And there is a lot of anti-Chinese sentiment going on in the USA and the still now outmoded notion that Chinese quality is low.

    • @InsideChinaAuto
      @InsideChinaAuto  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @benjaminsmith2287 I think US legacy auto knows it can't compete with what's coming out of China at the moment and lobbying is a big thing there. They probably want time to get up to speed before they have real competition as not everyone is anti-China there despite what the media would have us believe. Most just want choice, be that large or small. Volvo has some special deal in place to get around the battery rules, some kind of credit swapping, so their Chinese made cars can get in tariff-free, but I think that's down to them also having factories in the US. The Chinese brands will likely have to build there to be given a pass.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@InsideChinaAuto There is the mess of lobbying for sure. But there's still the dismissive attitude that Chinese is inferior in quality. It was there with Korean and Japanese cars at one point. They're in for a rude awakening. More enlightened people certainly are aware of the Chinese brands capabilities and advancements.
      In the USA, Volvo has few made-in-China models offered. There's the S90, hardly a seller at all, and the upcoming EX30 which will change to Belgium in a few years. Polestars, however, are made in China until the Polestar 3 is introduced that's made in the USA.
      Chinese battery factories in joint ventures with US factories will be the first in. And that's meeting resistance. Then at some point some factories can build cars that are actually spec'd in China by BYD or another big homegrown Chinese carmaker. The process may take time, patience, and persistence.

      I can't speak to the Volvos chassis tuning, but overall I find this to be a much more considered car. The Volvo isn't innovative enough for me and the focus on sustainable materials means it doesn't feel quite as luxurious inside. This is more considered for space and how people, particularly how Chinese customers, like to use their car. This feels special, where the Volvo feels 'meh, it's alright, nice enough'.

      @@InsideChinaAuto I think the Volvo feels more "special" due to its more Volvo approach of Scandinavian design, sustainable materials and such. And when I say Scandi design it's not only styling but design choices like the materials and life cycle of the whole car. And using a sound bar and the way the center armrest hides its cupholders seems fairly innovative to me. That's where the Volvo innovates. The Zeekr car tends to have more in common with expected 'premium" content whereas the Volvo is more forward looking in its much more understated approach. Yes, Zeekr may be a better approach for maybe some in the Chinese market, and that's why I think Volvo is not necessarily that appealing to the Chinese market as a marque.
