A theater near me was showing the movie at 10:00 for two nights only, and they encouraged people to come dressed up, to bring the traditional interactive props and call out the traditional phrases. I went dressed as Eddie, and when Hot Patootie came on, I jumped up, and danced down to the front of the theater. Someone threw a spotlight on me, and suddenly everyones eyes were on me. I looked to the nearest Columbia (there were a few) and motioned for her to join me. So basically, we acted out the whole dance number live while it was happening on screen. Then my friend who was dressed as Frank N Furter came down and pantomimed murdering me while the complete stranger Columbia screamed in horror. THIS is why I love the the interactive Rocky Horror Shows.
Meat is one my heroes. I’m a classically trained tenor. “For Cryin’ Out Loud” from Bat Out Hell is as difficult as anything in Wagner’s Ring cycle. This guy could have been an opera star.
Have you seen footage of Meat with Pavarotti? That's proof Meat Loaf could've been an opera singer. He has an incredible range, such a versatile singer. My favourite singer ever!
I love how proud he sounds when he describes the audience laughing at Doctor Scott, and how he finally got into the role. He even made Tim Curry laugh! Not everyone can manage bizarre comedy like Rocky Horror, and considering that it was a much less open minded time, and that he came from a conservative family, he did an amazing job breaking away from all that.
Rest in Peace Meatloaf September 27, 1947--January 20, 2022. I have this video saved in a list since every once in a while I just love to listen to it, since you tell stories SO WELL especially about the part on proving O'Brein wrong on the song.
I had the great pleasure of seeing him in concert. One of the BEST concerts ever! He talked to us and acted out Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I'd Do Anything for Love. If I had the chance and he was up to it( sadly he has said his health isn't the best, and that is more important than a concert!) I'd go to a Meatloaf concert again!
Meat Loaf was a pretty conservative guy...cool that he went from "no no no no no I'm not doing this" to wearing fishnets on stage (and loving it) and even begging to do the same thing in the movie!

Great interview and indispensable to anyone who's a fan of the show and the movie. Meatloaf is excellent when it comes to telling these stories and makes for a very good raconteur.
Meatloaf is such a funny and great guy. I loved his part as Eddie and this story is hilarious, especially the part about him with the fishnets on stage as Dr. Scott. LOL
Judging him for his reaction is not fair. Also you have to understand something about MArvin Lee Aday... he comes from a repressive family. His parents were Gospel singers and his dad was abusive. He was young at the moment and probably dealing with so many inner demons but he became one of the greatest rock heroes. :)
that BS..your acting like this is all normal...it was extreme to the majority..dont play the gay card and say that his reaction was unusual because he was repressed...the whole LBGTQ BS is a tiny tiny minority of people...his reaction was normal..fucktard...
I never saw Mr. Meatloaf as a Laughing kind of guy! That is great! I remember discovering Rocky Horror in 6th grade by way my friend April. My Dad wouldnt let me play it on the VCR! I still have an undying aprreciation for Rocky Horror and Shock Treatment!
Meatloaf has had wonderful career with many albums and many tours, movies, and television. He's coming out with a new album, Braver than We Are, in 2016. Pretty great considering he has Social Anxiety.
I’m glad they changed Meatloafs mind he did a fantastic job in the movie he killed his solo. I also believe that he could have been a great Dr Scott as well.
Oh yeah i remember the song he is talking about at 3:40 ^^ i'm french and i remember as a teen i was amazed even though i didn't understand a word that he could put so much word in such a weird pattern in that song :D RHPS was such a greaaaat show/movie, it was a shock for me, when i saw this first, i was in Heavy Metal, i thought it was more about this kind of music, but i l.o.v.e.d the music even more than anything i had heard before. So harmonious, so greatly sung. Ah, memories :)
It makes me remember how obsessed we are with this show when I realize most of my close friends and I know all the lyrics to "Hot Patootie" and Meat Loaf doesn't remember them...
R.I.P. The late Great Mr. Loaf. Meat to his friends, Outstanding songs, Bat out of Hell.. everything else. Looking for the Heart of Saturday night, Tom Waits, then Hot Patootie, followed by Rat trap ? Lovely.
+Cardinal Ximenez It's ironic because the song says "Don't get strung out by the way I look. Don't judge a book by its cover." Meatloaf did judge. lol.
He's such a sweet guy in person & I remember meeting him as a kid, although his wife became my second mum for the night (she's brilliant) so I remember her more. I'd forgotten how shy he is off stage. Hehe Wish I could have seen the original Rocky Horror though. Meat & Rocky = brilliant!
This is one of my favorite celebrity interviews. It is also important for historical purposes. Susan Surandon also has funny interviews of her experiences. I wish Tim curry wouldn't be so hush hush about his experiences.
lol ok bro doesnt matter if he had a stroke. he can still talk & sing, also he was very private about it when he was younger (youre missing about 40 yrs of his life between rocky horror & the time he had a stroke.) because he didnt want to be seen as just frankie because people would only recognise him for rhps for a lot of his life.
Big part of the show... Wouldn't be the same with Meatloaf. ....Love his TIm Curry Chats.... Just posted some Tim Curry Impersonations. STILL TRYING TO FIND A GAME.. ..
Tim Curry was just at phx comic con. He has done a lot of interviews. He was absolutely wonderful at the con. He did a Q and A, talked about his movies and even sang sweet t!
@TheHelenasan4 Well it was years ago and he was young... maybe he's grown up in the last 30+ years. You gotta remember how revolutionary the show was at the time.
The man had throat cancer. Was told he would never sing again. And came back as strong as ever. His voice is incredible.
Isn't it amazing! He brought so much to music, and stage, and cinema ❤
Rip 🙏 Meat Loaf

He did phenomenally on Hot Patootie. His voice always is super incredible.

He was a born performer not just a singer. Most singers don't hold both talents.
he has aged very well i love meatloaf.his songs are just so great.
He has lost weight as well as years. How old is he in this video? He looks incredible.
This is like 1998
@@slystonedtuna4741 That sounds about right. Thank you. Meat Loaf would have been 50 back then.
Do not search 'meatloaf nrl grand final'
Agreed, he's extremely easy on the eye.
The low number of dislikes on this video reminds me of how patient and forgiving Rocky Horror fans are.
Okay Rocky horror picture show
Meatloaf Rocky horror picture show

*that awkward moment when you wonder if this is Matt Damon in twenty years*
More like 5.
Matt should be so lucky
Saw this film at least 70 times. Just loved the movie.
He's right. Hot Patootie is a touch song to match lyrics to the notes of the song.
+Tony Young - Early rap - bending those words!
Lady BlackstarDust I actually see the similarities between his delivery in Hot Patootie and a Young Thug song.
you need a semi breath at cosmic light.
@@vickymc9695 The lyric I have trouble with is "put some hair oil on". It's hard getting the "oil" part in.
But yet Meatloaf slayed the song
I can't help my self. Some how Meat Loaf feels to me like an old Jack Black in this interview.
I love him. I've been playing his music constantly lately.
I have too. Especially since Jim Steinman died.
I had the great pleasure of seeing him in concert. One of the BEST concerts ever! He talked to us and acted out Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I'd Do Anything for Love. I saw him in concert too. He was fantastic. He had a giant bat onstage at one concert I went to.
At the concert that I went to he was acting out Paradise by the dashboard light with his daughter
Meat Loaf was a pretty conservative guy...cool that he went from "no no no no no I'm not doing this" to wearing fishnets on stage (and loving it) and even begging to do the same thing in the movie!
He was never conservative, he just for some reason drew his line at moment panties.

This is a great story. Man, what a great interview. Has Meatloaf written an autobiography? If so, I'll buy it tomorrow.
I think someone else has written a biography. And there was a movie made about Meat Loaf's life, starting from his early years as Marvin Lee Aday.
Meatloaf is fucking kickass!
