Based on The New York Times bestselling and Edgar Award-winning nonfiction book from author James L. Swanson, Manhunt is a conspiracy thriller about one of the best known but least understood crimes in history, the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The seven-part limited series stars Emmy Award-winning actor Tobias Menzies (“The Crown,” “Game of Thrones,” “Outlander”), and is created by Emmy nominee Monica Beletsky (“Fargo,” “The Leftovers,” “Friday Night Lights”), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Emmy nominee Carl Franklin (“Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” “One False Move,” “Devil in a Blue Dress”) directed the first two episodes and is also an executive producer on the series.
Starring alongside Menzies are Anthony Boyle (“Tetris,” “The Plot Against America”), Lovie Simone (“Greenleaf”), Will Harrison (“Daisy Jones & The Six”), Brandon Flynn (“13 Reasons Why”), Damian O’Hare (“Hatfields & McCoys”), Glenn Morshower (“The Resident”), Patton Oswalt (“A.P. Bio”), Matt Walsh (“Veep”) and Hamish Linklater (“The Big Short”).
Manhunt is produced by Apple Studios and co-produced by Lionsgate Television, in association with POV Entertainment, Walden Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, Dovetale Productions and Monarch Pictures. Monica Beletsky, Carl Franklin, Layne Eskridge and Kate Barry executive produce. Swanson, author of “Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer” also serves as executive producer alongside Michael Rotenberg, Richard Abate, Frank Smith and Naia Cucukov.

I’ve thought it since Howe saw him in 2016 on stage as the original Scorpius Malfoy. Everyone who saw it came out going who was that young actor! Think him opening it in Broadway too really raised his profile in the US. Great to see him doing so well.

Yes! I just watched the first 3 episodes of this and I love Menzies in the Crown and Outlander and all I can think of is I wish he had a more substantial part in Game of Thrones. If they ever make a young Tywin show I want him to play Tywin, I don’t care about the weirdness of it

I started watching it then STOPPED watching it after I saw a clean shaven person who was supposed to be portraying Sec of War Edward STANTON who in a 100 pics anyone can see had a long beard down to his chest ! I couldn't BELIEVE the LAZY research and Lazy awful writing ! 😂 I agree with u 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 👍

If this is anywhere near as good as the book, it’s going to be absolutely fantastic. Seriously seriously y’all, if you haven’t, read the book. Once you start reading it, it’s hard to put down.
Loved the first 2 episodes. Tobias Menzies makes an awesome Edwin Stanton even without the beard and being overweight. I look forward to seeing this to the end.

Pretty gotdam cool that Menzies is playing this role, when he earlier shone as the very Brutus whose supposed cry as he stabbed Caesar was also Booth’s as he slew Lincoln (shown differently here, but still extant in VA’s state motto: sic semper tyrannis ).
also this show is going to be released in March 15 (aka the Ides of March)
We needed another movie/tv show about the Lincoln assassination.

The Book by Jeff Swanson was absolutely EXHILARATING. So much fun to read. Im always impressed by authors who can enthrall amd give me anxiety even though i know EXACTLY what happens😂😂😂

He does. They dont show that part in the trailer. He shoots Lincoln, yells that stuff about the south, jumps off the balcony, gets onstage, and then yells Sic Temper Tyrannus

He did in real life but the show is wrong. By all recorded accounts, he didn't say anything in the theater seat. He jumped down after shooting Lincoln and yelled out Sic Semper Tyrantis
@Midnight2534 Major Henry Rathbone was present with Lincoln and reported Boothe saying something muffled that sounded like, "Freedom," before jumping on the stage. This is certainly dramatized, but it's not made up
@@Midnight2534 Now that the series is out, he actually does jump down and say that, so they did portray it accurately surprisingly.
“Thus always to/for tyrants” Sic = thus, semper = always (think semper fi) tyrannis = plural indirect object of tyrannus (tyrant)
He does in the show too, he yells freedom for the south then jumps down and yells what you said and then runs off stage with a busted leg. Don’t know how historically accurate the show is but 3 episodes in and I’m enjoying it
