"There's nothing that can keep you from peace." And once you have peace, all the beautiful emotions come on top of it. Peace isn't nothingness, emotionlessness, it's the foundation of all kinds of happiness. And peace is easy to have. Just stop needing to control everything that happens in the universe.
I see a lot of “spiritual wannabes”. When you are ready the Work works, if you are not ready wait. It’s not the Work it’s your lack readiness that isn’t allowing it. Humans love their rightness so much they will cling to anger to punish someone else. Patience. Learn. Observe. It all happens in divine timing.
How do you feel...when you think of the thought... he doesn't need a haircut? "I FEEL FREE!! ... JUST WANT TO READ COMMENTS, SMILE AND NOT JUDGE ANYONE"
You are god. Loving what is, is in reality pure selfishness, pure delight. All belief separates you from your true nature and it is painful. What is requires no faith, hope, charity or anything. "cast thy burdens upon the lord and he shall sustain thee". There is NOTHING to do! Until you do the work of enquiry, you are stuck in your own belief hell. This is the ONLY work. Everything else, is just living insanity.
"God is what is" -- what can be more bigger, then what is. If there is a God, it can not be bigger than what is. It can only be part of what is. Wow. So simple.
Walking the walk of a peaceful existence in the freedom that comes with loving what is. I find it so interesting, really, to read the comments below. Standing in ones truth, needing to make someone else wrong, I wonder really, from this platform of Christianity...what would Jesus say?
To the person placing evil thoughts of destruction on this responce place. You speak of Christ do you believe you reflect his love of humanity? Katie help people untangle their thougths, she does not say she speaks of the bible, she just speaks of love. She opens peoples hearts, and minds to think compassionately about their situation and to be tollerant of others, which is a geat deal more than you do. somewhere inside you let go of the anger and hurt you are a son of God.
Amazing info. Interestingly everything she is saying is true. One must at minimum be at the consciousness level of acceptance that Dr. Hawkins speaks about to really get the meaning in her words. Otherwise it will go right over folks heads.
@theomeow Yeah, new age always puts so much emphasis on positivity. I think negativity is very underrated. Eeyore is one of my greatest heroes. He adds a sense of balance to the Pooh tales making them more real.
@unbaiserdechocolat Where does the past exist? In your head and that is a fact...none of this is about what happens, its about what you think about what happens. This is no new teaching either. Its in the teaching of Christ, Bhudda, Non dual, everywhere. Byron Katie has put it into practical terms that anyone can use as a tool to grow and feel good inside.
@clinelou Maybe sometimes what is means being put in a situation where you find out YOU are the one to bring about change. I imagine that happened with King.
@nasppsan loving what is is acceptance of the basic individuals right to choose, accept and move on....him getting a haircut is not going to change your life, or anything in your world, love what is.. put your energy in better areas of your life.
Ignorance is good for noone, long term. It may provide immediate comfort and happiness (as do most religions), but long term it backfires when life throws something difficult at them, and they don't have the capacity nor understanding to deal well with it. I'm not jealous or anything (of what?), I just don't like silly blind things being treated like wonderful wise things, when really they're not.
@unbaiserdechocolat I suppose this work can be see anyway we choose. To me, this work doesn't say thoughts are wrong or right. There are peaceful thoughts and stressful thoughts only. Here is a chance to understand our own mind. Very cool.:)
what if you didn't ask any questions? what would you be without questions? do you really want an answer to your questions? if the question goes, you go. bye bye
If your own experience is more than an idea and you try to convey this to people it is bound to be misunderstood. Unfortunately, literature is our most basic means and has been proven over and over again that experience can't be shared this way. I guess she has hope that some people will 'get it'.
i see people benefiting from it, over and over, so I think the facts dispute your opinion...take it a face value, does it work, if so be content she is doing good for some....let jealousy go it is not good for your soul.
@HanTuber Many peaceful actions have led to change! Read about Ghandi or Martin Luther King, Jr! But also, sometimes we must fight, and that is true, too.
I love Byron Katie, but she's not usually that great at expressing her thoughts in a clear manner. I've had friends like this, where I will rephrase what they've said, ask if that's what they meant and they say yes, and only then do the people with us understand what my friend said. That's why, I find, it's often better to read the books of Byron Katie that were co-written with another author that has been able to rephrase Katie's thoughts into something more coherent.
i hear you but i hardly think the question "is it true?" is fanciful. It cuts like a knife. And it will lead right back to your first sentence--There's nothing to what ANYONE says. But that includes you, too, when you refer to "real" problems not being addressed. See the turn-around there? See how sneaky the ego is? :o) Love and Blessings to you! Thanks for indulging me.
"real" hardship? You mean hardship that is impossible to overcome with forgiveness? Victimhood that never ceases? You're still wanting to be "special" by having these "real" problems. If you think self-loathing isn't a real problem then that's where we disagree.
I guess the thing I feel is that even she hasn't got it, otherwise she wouldn't take that path at all. The whole thing eventually leads to incomprehensibility, the search for 'truth' that is. These systems, philosophies, ideals, are often nothing more than kid's gloves for life, some kind of way of painting it into pretty roses and flowers, of 'meaning making'. It's hiding from it. She wouldn't invent such a system unless she too is holding it through such gloves, so that's why I dismiss her.
Nah, I'm pretty self-honest and introspective, so fairly sure I'm not. My problem with her ideas is I can see there's unfounded assumptions there. She talks about God for example; she doesn't know what "God" is. There is no knowing such a thing, conceptually; she probably just has a belief structure about her experience and so on and so forth. I've come across a lot of these types, and I dunno I can just pick it. I'm pretty sure if you could sit down with her and really get to the bottom,
Plus the fact that a petty little system like this has little power for the ones really struggling in life. I'd like to see it make a war veteran feel better about his experiences, or someone who just watched their kid blown to pieces in front of their eyes. And so if it can't help them (and let's be frank; it can't), of what good is it at all? I don't see any system out there that can help anybody in that way, I don't think it's possible. Life just does its thing, as do people.
She has worked with people like that. Perhaps look it up. Many people with ptsd has benefited, it's the same process of all suffering. Imagening the terrible instance over and over in your mind. Without it you are fine.
@loveiswhatIam you made me laugh - love the god of what is - empower yourself - accept it annoys you he needs a haircut - isnt thats what Katie was trying to tell you - be at peace, its really of no concequence if he needs a haircut.... it is what is.........
you're still making the point that The Work somehow doesn't address the issues of people with "real" problems. It does. "Closeted"? Hardly. Naive? Hardly. That's why i brought it back to you: if you think people have problems that the Work cannot address, you might be just projecting your own feelings of hopelessness. Just an observation. The Work is ALL about projection; projecting one's own fears and doubts onto others. No harm intended.
What is reality ? There is no such thing as reality, it is vibration and frequencies. We really do not view reality we only see what our brain says is there. There is actually nothing but an energy field beyond the physical.
@MrBennyDiction I completely agree with you... she makes stuff as she goes...and just spins her thoughts and words and makes it sound like "it must be true" ....its rediculous
And to be honest that's the thing that sickens me about people like Byron Katie - they don't touch gloves with the ones on the bottom. They don't understand the real underdogs of life at ALL because they're too busy with their silly little philosophies of love and 'god' or 'self-help'. They're aloof from that, and if anything it says to me they're unwilling to face that, unwilling to get their hands truly dirty - and yet they get up and act like they have some help for us? What a crock...
you identify with these "ones at the bottom.."? Are you saying that the problems of the "ones at the bottom" are "special" problems that nobody could understand or appreciate fully and that they're not being properly addressed? Is that your contention? If it is, you are projecting. :o)
@iluvyouwyatt hahahaha!!!! whoever doesnt believe in god, thats their choice. im not trying to decide for them. but one day they will ALL know. all the ones who dont believe in god will know either when they die and burn in hell or when the rapture comes. the ones who do believe and have a good heart and didnt murder anyone (including themselves) or any of that stuff will go to heaven and be rewarded for being faithful and a good person. :P thats my view of it all
You'd find there's nothing to any of what she says at all. Though in a sense that's true of everything. But I also think that these things like "the work" are just too abstract and fanciful, and don't practically apply to the real challenges of life. If anything they feed into a mental positivity type self-speech and dogma in the person's head, which I'm not big on. Anyway man not much else to say.
The Work is the only really practical method I have seen so far. It is asking yourself 4 questions and turning a thought around. Nothing abstract about it. It has helped me more than anything with real challenges in my life. And it is for free. Highly recommended!
Dude stop trying to be a psychologist and misinterpreting me like that... it's a little frustrating because you're way off. I have no interest in talking about "my" hardship, I only have an interest in pointing out that Byron is closeted and naive. If you wanna try to misdirect it back at me so you can avoid looking at the actual issue lol... then great, good for you. But basically all the flowery nonsense she says has no substance.
Nah, I identify with said people because they've actually been through some real hardship and know how stupid all this 'spiritual' nonsense is, whereas someone like Byron Katie just seems closeted and naive.

God is what is or reality? Who's reality? What is reality? From who's' perspective? For all that matters, what is "is". What is God? Who's God? It's all complete nonsense, whatever that is. It's all semantics and not even that. As soon words come into play it's over. You're no longer talking about what you think you're talking about. Crazy! Most of what she puts into the catagory of "that which is" has no foundation in reality. Whatever that is!
never ceases to amaze me how these new age philosophies these people teach never directly address an answer...they skirt around them with these circular thoughts and empty hollow words that supposedly make people feel better, but in the end it pads their pockets. Open up your minds and use them for yourself. Life is about using your common sense. Initially, what she says sounds good, but if you listen long enough, something just doesn't feel right or add up. Ill pass on this new age crap.
@NYCw66 you have to admit that Alan is a bit irritating. I think she's doing GREAT in that light ;-) just kidding, Alan, we love you!! (but you ARE a little irritating). Just kidding!! (you are just a little). ;-)
@@newrealities and it´s also possible to have them with drugs. though i am convinced that, if she did use drugs, perhaps accidentally to awaken she would probably not tell. let´s not forget, that eli jaxon-bear from the leela foundation, has stated that he first awakened on lsd... before meeting up with papaji in lucknow.

Believe me, she did not have her awakening using drugs. Most 99% of the people don't. Katie was recovering from alcoholism and she woke up in a completely different state. Many people have awakened moments on drugs, but it doesn't stay. That is probably what happened to Eli. But that is just a visit. It is not a total dwelling in the being.
When you bring up the idea of drugs is a distraction and you lose potential of what humans are capable of in their own neuro- chemistry. My suggestion is to get away from drug culture thinking and feel what you are possible of awakening. to.
