This week, Coyote takes on the sting of the Australian Giant Stinging Tree, aka the Devil's Toilet Paper. Their leaves may look innocuous, but they're actually covered in near-microscopic stinging hairs that -- when brushed up against by an unlucky hiker, animal, or Coyote Peterson -- latch on to flesh and deliver serious stinging pain!
Coyote takes on the sting, then demonstrates how to use wax removal strips to remove the stinging hairs -- just in case you ever have an unlucky encounter with one of these intimidating plants.
Turns out, insects aren't the only stinging scaries... so it's time to put Australia's Giant Stinging Tree to the test!

My pain tolerance makes him look like he doesn't even feel pain. I can stub my toe and it will hurt a lot for 10 Minutes while he can get stung by a poisonous insect that can kill other animals with pain and he can give us fun facts.

Respect for Coyote for doing all of this so we can be educated and really get an understanding. Seeing how strong a pain tolerance he has, it really lets people know the red flags when you see him have to walk around to resist the pain and he has higher respects for keeping it kid friendly all throughout. I was 5 years old and ventured into the bush trying to retrieve my bow ,Reaching for it and getting stung by this plant/Tree . It still haunts me 40 years after.
This pain is no joke and it worsens after contact . It becomes unbearable and throbbing with pain.
I never ventured in the forest or bushes ever again. 👍to you for experimenting.

There is a bush remedy for nettle stings. You will find bracken growing everywhere nearby. Just grab some and rub it on where it stings. It works quite fast.

It amazes me how much pain Coyote puts himself through while managing to keep things family friendly and not cursing. XD
Most Aussies will incorrectly refer to the giant singing tree as a gympie-gympie, but as you mentioned, the gympie-gympie is much worse. Early explorers in northern Australia shot themselves in the head after coming in contact with the plant because the pain was too intense to continue living.

Something to know. You can often find the Elephant Ear Plant near the Stinging Tree and Gympie Gympie . The juices in the plant will instantly relieve the pain.
