Lee Kuan Yew is widely regarded as the founding father of modern Singapore. As Prime Minister for 31years from 1959 to 1990, he led Singapore to independence and transformed the economy from the third world to first. In giving his approval for the publication of this video, Mr Lee urged that newcomers to meditation ‘must believe in it and they must practise it, even though they do not succeed at the early stages.
LAURENCE FREEMAN is a Catholic monk of the Benedictine order and director of The World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM). He has published many works on meditation.
The WCCM is a global community of meditators united in a contemplative Christian tradition as taught by Fr. John Main, OSB. Our community is now present in more than 100 countries with 3000 weekly meditation groups, multiple centres, and a vibrant online community. He's like an ancient shaman by this point in time. But still thinking and analyzing the world at large. I've just really learned about his story the last decade or so, although I heard him mentioned way back in the day. Legendary leader.
Singapore was so fortunate to have this man lead them for so long. One of the very rare men not to be corrupted by power.
Except it seems the more capable ones like Goh Keng Swee & George Yeo (Natural born leader) were “sent overseas” to China.
Very grateful for his leadership for Singapore but the reason for his effectiveness was also that he believe in absolute power. So he was at all times pursuing absolute power and no tolerance for any dissent. To say he was corrupted by power is not accurate. I will believe he was consumed by absolute power. So sad to see him in his frailty for a man who was used to welding absolute power … perhaps God was merciful as in this interview he realize the existence of a soul in every man. Hope he was saved..
@@markmk44 a melting pot of cultures, ethnicities and religions like Singapore need a strong, unifying leader. I only visited a handful of times but it was a remarkable city state. I’ve not been back in the last 20 years but it sounds like it has become almost too successful.
But his greatest achievement was to balance the competing interests of the global great powers, so easy for it to turn into a Ukraine or Taiwan.

@@Hs5687 Nepotism is the deadly vice and nearly impossible to avoid, to maximise one’s genes chance of survival is intrinsic to all humans. Plato’s concept of the perquisite of leaders not marrying and not having children, as is seen in the leadership Catholic Church, is just about the only way to avoid the problem, in my opinion, this should be constitutional. All of Plato’s ideas were founded from an experience and understanding of human nature and history.
He seems not particularly liking the word "spiritual" but clearly defines true self. Considering the word "spirituality" being sold so cheap these days, I don't blame him at all.🤲

The bible says "For all have sin n fall short of the glory of God". ..."for none is righteous,....". There is nothing within our capability be it thru trying to live a perfect life or observe many religious rituals, that will enable us to get right with God. God has provided the way thru Jesus n its up to us to accept him or reject him.
😊🙏 So Enlightening to know that , the True Teachings of True Good Angels , Good Gods , Goddesses & Enlightened Beings are Teachings of Spirituality of Practicing the Universal Humility & Empathy of Loving Kindness & Compassion with Wisdom & Forgiveness to accumulate enough Good Merits & Wisdom to Realised The Path to Liberate One's Consciousness from the entanglements of ignorance , holding onto wrong views , false ego , arrogance , hatre & evilness that tied our consciousness in these loops of Birth , Ageing , Sickness & Death in these 6 Realms of Sufferings ... Hence Spirituality is the Real Teachings & not man edited & much abused & exploited religions that caused so much world conflicts & wars & sufferings! ... 🙏🕯🌷🌿🌏✌💜🕊
The priest asked a pertinent question on "if Hitler meditate would he be what he is NOT" the question fits this evil man like a hand in a glove
Spirit, soul ( is your true self ), and body ( corrupted flesh).

his practice is to extract the last dollar from people and spend nothing on own people.
The experience LKY was describing is not spiritual and he is right again. Once we give it a label it is no longer what it is. It was there all the time waiting for us to discover.

The priest is right and Mr Lee must have been reading on the subject to come to this realisation although he said he didn’t differentiate between spirituality and religion.

@ongtayjoojames-ow1bs It is never too late. Who knows, in his next birth, LKY might become a monk or a sanyasin. His life purpose for Singapore is over. Now it is time for him to vigorously enter into the path of a renunciant in his next incarnation. We all have to start somewhere...

His knowledge of spirituality is appalling.
Meditation will not gain salvation. Believing in Christ is the answer.
Believe is just that you concretised your assumption. Believing something to be truth is not the same as knowing the truth. Having experiential knowledge is what meditation leads you to. It turns you to be a person with universal consciousness, compassionate to all living things. You will naturally drop your longing for animal flesh for your taste bud enjoyment. You help without expectation as you realise all is one.
It remains your belief.

Everyone has to go through this path. There's nothing to be sad about. It will be more sad if he think he can live forever
We all have to follow that path, brother. It's the great equalizer...embrace it.
This is not punishment. All things breaks down with age. Even yr car houses, anything material deteriorate with age
Don't use God to misrepresent at anything. Look at positivity.
Why don't you say instead God blessed him with a sharp mind despite his advance age. His hardware may be worn, but software was running fine.
