Flight of Neptune - Solo Bass

- An updated video of my original bass solo song "Flight of Neptune". Better quality video this time, and played in the original, lower key. At the end of the video I also added the original audio recording that I did of the song, shortly after I finished writing it in 2004. Including the interlude that I haven't worked out how to play live yet. And a photo slideshow of my Ken Lawrence bass, which was used in the video and the original recording. Enjoy!

10+ years and this bass solo still gives me chills. Wish you'd come back, but appreciate what you did on CZcams while you were here. You'll always been my favourite CZcams bassist. Even with the likes of guys like Davie504, ZanderZon and CharlesBerthoud still actively posting your videos will always be the ones I come back to when I need to be inspired.
I liked this video years ago, remembered the melody randomly and went on a desperate search through my likes. It's the second video I liked on youtube. Great tune

I hope this man is doing well. I started watching these videos as a teenager learning bass. I found his videos through watching the Metallica covers, but this song always stuck out to me. I know they don’t post videos anymore, but I hope they know that they made an impact on a 14 -16 year old kid whose approaching 30. Unfortunately I didn’t get near this skill playing bass, but I still make music leisurely and this person played a lasting role inspiring that. I hope they can know that and I thank them
i remember this is one of the first videos i listened to when i started learning bass. i have a completely different style from yourself by now haha but i still really appreciate your skill and the inspiration you gave to me through your music

@Hopspop - Thanks! I'm plugged into a TC Electronics M-One multi-effects thingy, to get a little phaser/chorus effect for this. Then it goes straight to a USB audio preamp into my computer for recording. Pretty simple setup. Having light gauge strings (Thomastik Infeld Jazz Rounds) and low action helps with tapping.
