I have to say that was a very good debate about the role of concubines, and wives/husbands. However, the mother had a huge say regarding these ladies and how many were pushed on the Marquis. Even in present times, most of the Asian countries, like Korea and China, a couple has to go through their parents for their approval to get married. I really enjoyed the debate, thank you.
True I too enjoyed how they explore the concubine system and how they proved that it was not for the best. In most Asian countries parental approval is a important requirement to get their blessings and the deep respect for the elders. Its said that marriage is a joining of two families rather than two individuals.

The lead actor and actress are wonderful and all the main roles are very well cast. This series has some excellent universal meanings of a person’s true worth is not status but nature, kindness is a most important value, and honesty, respect, and forgiveness are most important qualities for true love. And these values are true in any culture, in any marriage. Wonderful to watch!! Plus, the costumes, the settings, and creative production aspects are outstanding. Truly an excellent series and fun to watch. Handsome Wallace Chung is especially excellent, showing the gradual change in this man who achieved vital success for his family but became cold, stoic, and ruthless in focusing so much on others’ survival. The sweet, petite, very pretty young woman (portrayed by Songyun Tan) fated to marry him reveals herself to have the qualities he most values in a woman. She has the sweetest, brightest eyes and smile this side of the planet Venus. She also gradually wins his heart and through her, he learns that emotional feelings like forgiveness and love can make an already strong, smart, very skilled man more complete and the man he really needed to be. Both roles, lead actor and lead actress, require very subtle expressions as well as very dramatic moments. Rewarding with fun, light comedic moments too!! This is not kid stuff. It’s real, universal and full of what all people want and need. “Hand in hand, growing old together” So encouraging!!

It's very common in Asian couples to clean up and clothe themselves after sex. It may not be immediately as they may make love multiple times, but before actually going to sleep. Asians live with families mostly, so it helps preventing any awkward situation. Also, climatic conditions, mosquitoes, are another reason. About make-up & hair, it's just a show, so it's always shown fixed up. 🙂

The Marquis had seriously no business having so many wives since he failed to treat them all fairly. While he was looking for someone who cared for him, so was his wives. Except the Concubine who killed his first wife, the rest had good reasons to betrayed him
@@arianekitenge well... Its not that he likes any of the concubines or wants to marry them. They're given to him to solidify their family status. That concubine wen comes from a rich merchant family which has low status in society, so she marries him to help her family to avoid trouble since he has a solid background.
Even his own cousin forces her way in as a concubine even after he said that he doesnt want to marry her. So its not entirely his fault if the concubines are treated a bit unfairly. Besides shiyi is the main/formal wife, so she has all the rights to prevent her husband from spending time with the concubines if she ever feels like it

They were political alliances organised by the respective parents and the women knew what they were getting in that role. If they chose to believe that suddenly for no reason he would be in love with them even though he had never met them that is their own delusion and in the case of the other women she set up the situation to force him to marry her. Again with the delusion that doing that would force him to love her ....
@@nuuufeee sadly in those times a woman was used to solidify relations, with concubine wen while he didn't want to marry her and still did so he can use the money from her family...I ain't saying she is a saint but he was no saint either. Both didn't got into that marriage because of love but it was her birthday considering it was her concubine at the very least he owed her a birthday dinner
