Look I like Lamar and I think he is a good QB but being a Ravens fan I have to say this. Lamar is simply not a prototypical QB in the pocket and lacks anticipation and accuracy on his passes. He misses way too many routine passes in the flats and balls just sail on him either too high or he is literally throwing the ball in the dirt. I can't tell you how may times I've seen that game after game, it's crazy to me how he misses on these easy throws. There is this notion that Lamar would be able to flourish in any system which I find hard to believe having watched every Ravens game. But fans forget that Roman was not the OC his rookie year where they ran a pro style west coast offense. When Flacco got hurt, they completely threw the playbook away which irked a lot of the veterans on the team (Like Terrell Suggs) to run this run heavy offense they favor today. We have to ask why is that? Simply put, there is a reason why Roman is still the OC because his system hides the areas where Lamar is not good at (accuracy, timing, anticipation) and positions him for high efficiency passes (that Andrews deep over route, middle sinking passes in zone in the middle of the field) while leaning a run heavy ball control offense. That is really has led to a lot of the success he'd had is due to the system that we run. You couldn't put him in Andy Reid's, or Shawn McVay's offense, he doesn't have the arm talent to thrive and be successful in those types of offenses. I'm saying this as a Ravens fan who has watches every Ravens game.

Lamar has clear deficiencies in his throwing mechanics and fundamentals, that's why his accuracy and ball placement is not great at times. We also know he couldn't run Marty's west coast offense because they completely scrapped it. I've never seen that happen for a back up QB before where you run an entirely different offense from what was installed during OTA's and training camp. You are correct about Young and Tannehill, sometimes the QB has to find the right fit to flourish. Lamar doesn't have a dynamic arm like Herbert, Allen or Mahomes and that's why there is a conversation surrounding his ability as a QB. Roman's system is not great for most QB's but it is great for athletic QB's who do not have top tier arms such as Tyrod, Kaep and now Lamar where a heavy run game limits so the deficiencies of the QB if they are not great passers by limiting the number of passes that QB has to make.

The only problem that I have with Lamar Jackson as a quarterback is his inconsistency throwing the football. There's a reason why the Ravens usually get exposed when a defense doesn't give them enough time to establish a passing game. You can also put this blame on the injury problems that they've been having recently, failing to develop quality wide receivers long-term, and play calling unfortunately.
Um Other quarterbacks have inconsistencies throwing the football too. Josh Allen had one of the worst games against the Jacksonville Jaguars of all teams and Joe burrow had a game against Chicago where he threw 3 pics including a pic 6. back-to-back ro back but hey no beings those games or guys up because we know why

Look I like Lamar and I think he is a good QB but being a Ravens fan I have to say this. Lamar is simply not a prototypical QB in the pocket and lacks anticipation and accuracy on his passes. He misses way too many routine passes in the flats and balls just sail on him either too high or he is literally throwing the ball in the dirt. I can't tell you how may times I've seen that game after game, it's crazy to me how he misses on these easy throws. There is this notion that Lamar would be able to flourish in any system which I find hard to believe having watched every Ravens game. But fans forget that Roman was not the OC his rookie year where they ran a pro style west coast offense. When Flacco got hurt, they completely threw the playbook away which irked a lot of the veterans on the team (Like Terrell Suggs) to run this run heavy offense they favor today. We have to ask why is that? Simply put, there is a reason why Roman is still the OC because his system hides the areas where Lamar is not good at (accuracy, timing, anticipation) and positions him for high efficiency passes (that Andrews deep over route, middle sinking passes in zone in the middle of the field) while leaning a run heavy ball control offense. That is really has led to a lot of the success he'd had is due to the system that we run. You couldn't put him in Andy Reid's, or Shawn McVay's offense, he doesn't have the arm talent to thrive and be successful in those types of offenses. I'm saying this as a Ravens fan who has watches every Ravens game.
You don't know what offense you could put him in your assuming based on greg Roman's lack of creativity, remember Steve Young sucked for Tampa But was good for S.F tannehill was better for Tennessee than what he was for Miami
@@TMCommentator Not sure I completely agree and I'm saying this as a die hard Ravens fan. Lamar has clear deficiencies in his throwing mechanics and fundamentals, that's why his accuracy and ball placement is not great at times. We also know he couldn't run Marty's west coast offense because they completely scrapped it. I've never seen that happen for a back up QB before where you run an entirely different offense from what was installed during OTA's and training camp. You are correct about Young and Tannehill, sometimes the QB has to find the right fit to flourish. Lamar doesn't have a dynamic arm like Herbert, Allen or Mahomes and that's why there is a conversation surrounding his ability as a QB. Roman's system is not great for most QB's but it is great for athletic QB's who do not have top tier arms such as Tyrod, Kaep and now Lamar where a heavy run game limits so the deficiencies of the QB if they are not great passers by limiting the number of passes that QB has to make.
I agree a lot with what you are saying but Lamar Jackson actually does have a strong arm there is barely tape of him under throwing receivers. Like his throwing motion is un orthodox

I've seen Diggs bail out Allen all of the time. I'm not saying Lamar can't be better but it's a team it's not tennis or golf.

i agree with 95% of the video but i don’t think lamar is reluctant to sign because of the scheme and GRo. i think if he really wanted a new coordinator the ravens would of got one. i think lamar is betting on himself to show that he is worth the biggest contract in nfl history. whether its him winning the super bowl or him having a mvp caliber season oe both. if lamar was reluctant because of the scheme i just dont see a world where the ravens choose a coordinator over a top 10 qb.

The only problem that I have with Lamar Jackson as a quarterback is his inconsistency throwing the football. There's a reason why the Ravens usually get exposed when a defense doesn't give them enough time to establish a passing game. You can also put this blame on the injury problems that they've been having recently, failing to develop quality wide receivers long-term, and play calling unfortunately.

Josh Allen had one of the worst games against the Jacksonville Jaguars of all teams and Joe burrow had a game against Chicago where he threw 3 pics including a pic 6. back-to-back ro back but hey no beings those games or guys up because we know why
I never said Lamar's inconsistent throwing was the only problem on that Ravens team. This is a mistake that can be fixed, but it needs to happen quickly for the Ravens to go anywhere in the playoffs. Baltimore's got about 5 years with this guy to get a championship.
