Wish I was your neighbor and could be invited to have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just sit there amid all the beauty that you have created. Ok, so your in the UK, so that gives me hope that here in the Eastern part of US I can grow the tree fern too. Getting a small greenhouse to keep the ones that are truly tropical to help them through some of the crazy and unpredictable winters we have here like the one this year that's one of the coldest on record and making everyone pretty much sick.

    • @ThePlantUtopia
      @ThePlantUtopia Před 4 lety

      fsaforo Saforo It has been cold this winter where you are? I am in Ohio and we have had very mild temps this winter, yesterday it was 69 degrees F. It was also very mild on Christmas. I wish I could grow a tree fern but I bet it would die when we get those polar vortexes we get sometimes.

    You don't need to protect tetrapanax, they're hardy esp down south. Also they are not invasive as such. They only sucker if you disturb the roots, plus suckers easy to remove. I was never lucky to get any suckers on my four plants (all in ground). Pyllostachys also not exactly invasive. I grow it in ground without barrier with no issues. It's a well behaved runner in my experience.
