BTW, you don't need to Pitch a yellow to have one floating to be able to play Codex into Death Touch. You can have any card in your hand and when you play Codex of Frailty, because of Riptides Ability you put the other card in the arsenal, then at Instant Speed you trench the card and gain one resource, all this before getting Death Touch from the graveyard ;)

I was that Kayo in the finals: can confirm that Buzzsaw Trap reduced a 14 dominate go again Pulping to an easily blocked 6 go again vanilla Brute attack. Card is gas. Overpitching to play to your outs was a great expression of skill I didn't notice at the time: fantastic Riptide gameplay.
This is similar to my Deck. (I've been playing/loving Riptide since prerelease from Outsiders) One thing that I am experimenting is to not play New Horizon (or crown of providence) and instead play Honing Hood. It does not block, but I can play more of the old Traps and in case that I receive a big dominated Attack is super easy to change my Arsenal, place my trap there, play it, other from hand and even set a third one in arsenal blocking 9-10 and damaging my opponent. The new Riptide Spec is giving Riptide some dominate too, which is gonna make the new Deck really really interesting!

My Katsu game against Damien on his Riptide was one of my favorite games (other than the ones against both of you guys) in the PQ that I got top 8 in last time! Damien pilots Riptide so well, he just got unlucky draws and I literally would have lost the next turn... Great deck tech, guys!

Very good video and indepth view of the deck. Very similar to what I would've played if I hadnt stumbled into Levia. That being said I was only missing a quick sideboard guide.
Riptide can be really fun, I've been messing with him for a few months now. He can definitely be better than people think, especially with this meta right now.
The meta has been favored for him for all of Heavy but people are sleeping!
Now that there’s a new Riptide card… this deck is out the window. Aim counters ftw! Super excited to try it out and see what we can do. Can’t wait to destroy a saber or claw 👏👏

about the decimator matchup, if the opponent is super disciplined the trap plan does not even work right?
Correct, if they just block out and swing Decimator your traps lose a lot of value and it becomes an attrition game

Was there any consideration given for Boulder Trap? Against Warrior and Brute it is often a 1-card 6
I love Boulder Trap, easily triggered, a yellow, almost always relevant effect. These types of aggro lists are just so light on traps

why not play sigil and intoxicating shot?
Intoxicating shot is terrible other than it blocks 3 and is a blue pitch. It's mainly a close out arrow or a force block situation. Most will value block it even with pumps especially warriors or ninja because their hands can go off better with the +1 and quicken. I typically block or pitch stack if I use this card as it has no reason to be played until late game. There's always fatigue style tho....but he's playing an agro deck

Riptide is still meh. He needs more support imo to be serious contender. I've played almost this exact deck tech ever since lexi LL being a lexi main. He's a worse version of azalea because no dominate. You just have to value block him for the most part.
I agree and have the same sentiments, just a mid ranger tbh. I think the support he needs is that he has to be that aim ranger. Barbed castaway is fine but the aim restriction is quite detrimental. I wish he would be able to reliably put aim counters on faced up Arrows.
This is one of the most uninformed deck techs I've seen. Both the interviewer and the interviewee have a very basic understanding of this hero and spend over an hour essentially just reading cards. Barely any of the hero's nuance is discussed and strategy is boiled down to "trigger traps, pump arrows". All this video achieves is falsely hyping up the performance of a hero such that any player that decides to pick up this list is destined to get stomped at armories as their opponent's quickly figure out that all you have to do to beat this kind of Riptide list is block.
Swing by one of my streams and we can play a match (time permitted). I’ll show you that just block won’t work. Assuming you are referring to a normal deck and not some degen fatigue.
Blocking doesn’t work very good against dreadbore. I find your comment suspicious
