  • Dad’s Army was a popular UK TV comedy show that was also adapted into 67 radio shows. It starred many legendary British TV stars such as Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, and Clive Dunn - to name but three of them. We have all 67 episodes so keep coming back in the next few weeks as we will put up ten at a time! I suggest listening to the first three in order so you get used to the characters and then you can listen in any order as they are all classic radio fare. Sit Back & Enjoy!
NOTE: I made a huge mistake by writing Ian Le Mesurier - it should, of course, be John Le Mesurier. Ian Lavender played the role of Pike in the show. Oops! Thanks to Glen for pointing it out!

As a fellow sciatica sufferer, can I wish your husband a speedy recovery. In the parlance of the day , stiff upper lip and remember " don't panic!".

Grew up in the 1990's watching re-runs of this on TV. Much simpler times. It's comforting to listen now, in the crazy world we live in.

This programme is very calming and gently relaxing for every activity. I use them for my ironing sessions
    which I find very stressful,!!!

Wonderful stuff. Thank you so much. I've seen all the episodes on TV and listened to them on the radio, but still can enjoy them over and over again. ❤

Good stuff but the dialogue here isn't the same as the tv broadcast....that bit at the begining in the radio shop isn't on the episode I have.

Persevere with more episodes and there are also a lot more inconsistencies, including Capt. Mainwaring's variable whisky habits and ultimately, Sgt. Wilson's original army rank. Apart from yes, quite a lot of minor script differences between TV and radio and elastic use of the same bit-part actors in differing roles. All part of the charm, although the occasional racism including some lines and visuals from Godfrey and Pike would perhaps not pass muster today.
