I remember reading about this when I was a teen and cried so much after having read it. You see all my life I always felt left out by my family and more of an inconvenience to them at times. So you can imagine when I go into the word to find comfort only to read this scripture thinking that I was nothing more than a dog to Jesus. It wasn't until it was finally explained to me that I finally understood it. Jesus did not want to give us scraps but he wanted us to sit at the table of the king. 🥰🥰 God can sometimes sound sarcastic in scripture.
    2 Samuel 9
    9. David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
    2. Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
    “At your service,” he replied.
    3. The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”
    4. “Where is he?” the king asked. Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
    5. So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
    6. When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.
    David said, “Mephibosheth!”
    “At your service,” he replied.
    7. “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”
    8. Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”
    9. Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family.
    10. You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
    11. Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s sons.
    12. Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.
13.And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.
We didn't have to come from the house of David because Jesus king of King and Lord of Lord's, having came from the lineage of David although we were not children of the promise (Jews) still wanted to show us Gentiles kindness and not by giving us scraps but by making us adopted inheritaners of his promise and made room at the table and so we were invited to also partake in the kings table. Praise God!!!

And especially nothing that a strong person is one who indeed relies totally on Jesus is so important! We are saved by grace through faith. We are not worthy to be saved yet God calls us. How humblimg.
Well done on explaining this so well! We all need to be taught how to interpret scripture in context.

Nice way of explaining. This morning when I read this verse I wanted to understand and I am glad I saw this interpretation.
The Canaanite woman knew the reference Jesus gave and so she could respond in the same manner how Jesus told her.
I have read this verse a couple of times in my growth in Christ but have never understood it like I did today. Had it been me in her place as I am today I wonder if I could respond with the kind of faith and understanding that woman had.
This is wisdom that comes from above that you preach in such an easy manner. May the Lord bless you !!!

Maybe some one can give me scriptural insight. As followers of Christ we're called to serve and not to be served. I'm in a position where people have been taking advantage of my help and kindness.. so much I have not had time to attend to my own family needs.. when we look at Mathew 15:27 we see that even Jesus puts his family before those whom aren't his yet dew to one's faith and cry for help we see that he helped a woman who that was in desperate need of help. The poeple I'm catering to have not desperately needed my help, I beleive they are opertunist banking on my kindness and taking advantage.. my question is... if the womam didn't beg Jesus by giving the analogy of the crumbs, showing her beleive and desperation.. would he have still helped her? And in my case should I continue to help those whom aren't truly in need or should I continue even knowing I'm being taking advantage of?

    • @MrMuncle
      @MrMuncle  Před 2 lety

Thanks so much for asking these good (and difficult!) questions. Concerning your personal situation and what you should do:
It would be wrong for me to give advice without knowing the exact specifics, such as the needs involved, and the relationship between you and the people you are giving to. If you have a pastor, I'd definitely recommend speaking to him on this subject - suddenly drawing your support and help away from people can have dramatic and unexpected effects, and there sounds like there may be many variables that need to be considered. I might be able to guide you in the right general direction though, through answering your questions:
      1. Family
The example in this video is that we (the human race), regardless of lineage, are offered the position of 'family' in Christ, through faith. God's plan of salvation for the human race was unique, to the Jew first, then to the gentile - but the lesson here is that this gift of salvation from God, is available to all mankind through faith. I wouldn't so much apply it specifically to the priorities of how we help others, as I don't think that is what the text is saying.
Although - God's word does remind us elsewhere that our roles in relationships, specifically with families, are important responsibilities (Eph. 5:21-33, 1 Tim 5:8, 1 Tim 3:5), and in handling these, we demonstrate our love for, and relationship with God through faith in Him. Therefore, handling our responsibilities at home (our families needs, if they depend on us) must take some form of priority, since we can't really help others with their responsibilities unless we make sure our own are handled first. Then our hearts will be in a position to give joyfully without compulsion (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Sometimes communicating that we legitimately have other responsibilities as a priority, is a good way to 'jog' the conscience of people who might be trying to take advantage, and exposes unhelpful intentions.
      2. "If the woman didn't beg"
You could translate this to "what if the woman didn't turn to Jesus?". Scripture teaches that all people should to turn to Jesus, and through Him we have provision by grace - God's good gifts so that we shall not be lacking anything we need. Check out Matthew 7:7-12.
Will God provide/help if we do not seek Him? He might - but He does make the amazing promise to provide that which is needed for those that seek Him first.
This is how I best understand scripture in relation to this situation. Feel free not to take my word for it! I do hope you find all this helpful though, I have had a good long think about the answer. God bless you in your walk. 👍🙏

He was in fact bringing the woman’s sin of abuse to attention. Her sin toward her daughter had taken root and opened her up to demonic possession. Of course, this is a teaching moment orchestrated by Almighty God, so that everyone is edified where they are, but we cannot discount that the woman’s own sin was laid bare in that moment. Her response is one of humility, confession and faith, which are hallmarks of a transformative conviction of our own sin. The relationship and redemption between God and creation was understood and the God of limitless mercy and compassion and incalculable grace forgave her sins and removed the consequences of her sin as only HE can do.

Something like from Sidon, right down past The Dead Sea. 'Canaanite' was also a very general term used to describe people who were not Jewish. :)

Yeah, both Judah and Esau married cannanite women, their faith has always been in submission to man, in their culture it was always welcome and normal, and customs spreaded out into the world. They always got the job done , to accomplish man , it in their DNA, I just accepted, who am I , to judge a woman as such, I mean even Christ had compassion and understanding for their belief, yet he made it clear, he doesn't like a dog way, that will accept being lower to man. They could not been that bad of woman, how could we not fulfill the truth, if we didn't mate with other nations ? 🤨, So I think , the scriptures was future - telling, of what pave the way for the gospel, if there is no law , then there no forgiveness, so I'm the context, it would be no need for grace, so I believe, everything work out , how it should be. So when the God said, " do not marry them " was a statement made from the after thought of doing so, when all things was fulfilled, how could the nations come in a blood covenant ?? 🤨, Surely only through , the mother , whom lives in all creation. 💌🕊️🫂

Why did u draw Jesus that way? He was super humble .. not dressed like a King. I think he wore a sackcloth and wrap with sandals and had bushy curly hair. Only time he acted as a King is when he rode in on the donkey.

Thanks for commenting, mate. I draw Jesus as 'King', because in the bible, He is described many times as a king (e.g. He affirmed Himself as 'King of the Jews' - Mark 15:2, and Paul called Him 'King of Kings' - 1 Timothy 6:15). Scripture also tells us that He has a kingdom (2 Peter 1:10-11) and a throne (Matthew 25:31).
You are right in some ways. He didn't act as we would understand an _earthly_ king to act. Earthly rulers are corrupt and often dishonest.
Instead, I would encourage you to think of it this way: Jesus acted as a _perfect_ King would, by always being humble, always being faithful, and dying for His people. He also demonstrated His Kingly authority over all creation - with His miracles, and by defeating death. I think this is why He is called 'King of KIngs'. I hope this helps! 🙂

I think I'd need to see what was said on the channel in context before I can legitimately comment on it.
As far as my knowledge takes me though, the 'lost sheep' phrase in the bible is a 'picture' of those who belong to God, but have wandered off. Even before Jesus came to die on the cross, this phrase occurs (i.e. Psalm 119:176, Jeremiah 50:6). If we were to say that 'lost sheep' can only be a certain type of person (either jew *or* gentile, etc.) we would be neglecting the fact that salvation comes by the grace of God, with faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4), and that this gift is available to all (Rom 1:16). Everyone has the choice to approach God, and everyone has it in them to wander off.
I'm definitely no expert, so I hope this makes sense and helps in some way. God bless. 👍

This is such a rediculous cover story. Words matter Jesus....you have found a wonderful skill to change words and meanings ...I love they way every body was assigned sin upon birth....holy cow

Apologies.. I'm not completely sure I understand what you mean by "Words matter Jesus".. but I agree, words do matter!
I didn't change any words or meanings. I simply explained what the commonly accepted translations and meanings of this text are, according to many language and theological experts much smarter than I am.
I also explained how these fit within the account context - I.e., if Jesus was insulting the woman, He probably wouldn't have also shown patience, commended her, and then healed her daughter, since this actually wouldn't make any sense within the book's narrative. Therefore Jesus must have been expressing something different.
As for people being sinful, I didn't make that up - that's what the bible says about the human conditon (eg Romans 5:19).
Thanks for your comment though, and for watching. I would actively encourage anybody not to implicitly trust what I say, but to always look up what the bible says for themselves! Have a good day! :)
